BATTLESTAR GALACTICA 2003

CANON Drawings

Re-imagined Battlestar Galactica From the new SciFi channel series. Differs considerably from the original, yet has many similarities. Drawn using plans released by the special effects company that designed her, as well as an incredible set of schematics drawn by Cobywan which provided details not visible in the official plans. XRaiderV1 has modified the drawing to show the missile launch tubes seen in "The Eye of Jupiter". The appear to be hidden behind sliding portions of the upper armor since they are not visible in any previous shots of the Galactica.

Battlestar Pegasus Mercury Class Battlestar Almost as hard to draw as the original Galactica, especially considering that the only references are screenshots since no official schematics have been release, unlike the new Galactica. Its as accurate as I could make it for now. If better references come along, I'll update "The Beast".

Colonial Vipers A collection of the various models from the original series, the new series, and the attempted continuations of the original series. Sizes are approximate, especially for the newer models from the new series. Several sources conflict on the various sizes.

MkVII Viper A revised drawing based on new images.

Colonial Raptor Intended as a recon and Electronic Warfare platform, the Raptor also sees extensive use in the troop transport and shuttle roles, as well as anti-ship strike missions.

The MkI Viper, From the New Series (!) This IS canon, since the Viper from the original series is seen in the museum in Galactica's starboard hanger pod, along with the MkII's that were put back into service. The color scheme is designed to resemble the MkII, with an alternate version resembling the MkVII. I added some RCS thrusters to keep it true to the new series which actually pays attention to newtonian physics.

Cylon Raider The fighter with a surprise inside... The semi-organic replacement of the classic Raider, which is canon to both universes since its seen in Galactica's hanger museum.

My Non canon Drawings

Battlestar Indra A design of my own creation. The Indra class of Battlestars were completed too late to serve in the Cylon War and were also the last class of Battlestar to have retractable flight pods. Many of her design features would be refined and incorporated into the later and larger Mercury Class.

Re-Re-imagined Battlestar Galactica A design of my own creation. This simply takes the "style" of the new series Galactica, and blends it with the original.

Battlestar Olympia From a fanfic by "pinchy417" at the Sci-Fi Meshes Forum In the story, the Olympia is a training ship that survives the Cylon sneak attack. The actual design is simply the original Galactica design "re-textured" with the color scheme of the new Galactica and with some added turrets.

Battlestar Manticore The Manticore and her sisters were slightly smaller than the Galactica and the rear hull was redesigned to allow landings to occur even with the pods retracted. The Manticore drawing using a modified head from Alexzandyr J.'s Zeus Class, as well as his gun turrets. The design is in response to a request from J. Mosher.

Assaultstar Harrier The Harriers were designed as escorts and as assault transports. They are were one of the largest vessels capable of a planetary landing, though this was done rarely and with much consternation and at least three were lost due to failure of the gravity suppression systems under the strain or outright structural failure. They could carry a maximum of four Viper squadrons though often the Vipers were replaced with specially designed troop carriers that could use the launch tubes for rapid strikes. They had nowhere near the endurance of a Battlestar, and that became a serious issue during the Cylon War when the Cylon tactics targeted fleet supply lines, forcing Assaultstars to sometimes "nurse" from a Battlestar, reducing its endurance in turn.

Battlestar Atlantia The Atlantia and Rycon were command versions of the original Battlestars, somewhat larger with extra Viper squadrons and additional firepower to compliment their flag facilities and enhanced command abilities. They served with great distinction during the Cylon War, with the Rycon being lost. Atlantia was gradually modernized over the years and when the Cylons again attacked, she led the fight to save the Colonies as flagship under Admiral Nagala. She was soon destroyed over Virgon, possibly a victim of Cylon sabotage. XRaiderV1 has modified the drawing to show the missile launch tubes seen in "The Eye of Jupiter". The appear to be hidden behind sliding portions of the upper armor since they are not visible in any previous shots of the Galactica. Here is the Atlantia armored.

Warstar Andraste Designed as a fleet command ship, the Andraste was a one of a kind warship. And one was all the Council of Twelve was willing to pay for! The FTL system alone cost as much as a small Battlestar, and the advanced communications systems only added to the incredible cost. Her firepower and carrying capacity was unrivaled, with a half-dozen landing bays for several hundred Vipers, three hundred being the planned operational capacity, with ample room for additional squadrons in emergencies as well as extensive manufacturing facilities for both Vipers and Raptors. At the time of the Cylon surprise attack, Andraste was docked at a Space Dock orbiting Libra. There were a few garbled transmissions from the ship, reporting a major Cylon attack, as well as computer failures but her final fate is unknown. Libran survivors reported she had gotten underway and was engaging the Cylons, but observers were forced to flee and did not see if she had survived. Considering the ferocity of the attack and the fact that most advanced Colonial warships fell prey to Cylon computer sabotage, her survival is seen as highly unlikely.

Battlestar Glorious Designed as an escort to the larger Mercury class Battlestars, the Quetzalcoatl and he sisters lacked the larger ships Viper production capacity, and heavy firepower but cost considerably less to build and man.

Battlestar Terpsichore Armageddon Class Near the end of the first Cylon War, the Colonial Fleet was finding itself very spread out and in need of more battlestars that were being produced my the fleet yards. In an attempt to bring more battlestars on line, they sent the word out to civilian shipbuilders. An independent Caprican company, in need of contracts and money, approached the high command with a proposal. They had all six of their slipways open, but the problem was they weren't long enough to build the Galactica type Battlestars. The Caprican Bridge and Shipbuilding Corp. offered the solution of shortening the Galactica type to fit the slip ways, and they promised to deliver the first of the new "light" battlestars by the end of the year. The company was able to pull off the "miracle" and they delivered the ship 13 days ahead of the promised schedule, and contingent upon payment. She was presented to the fleet for testing. She was the first Battlestar to put to space unnamed. The CB&S, bet the entire company fortune on their private venture. The Fleet was impressed with the company, they had delivered the ship in prime condition. The Fleet only had to work out a few system bugs. In service the unnamed ship performed well on her shakedown cruise. Her smaller size made her more agile then the standard Battlestar, and she was slightly faster. The fleet felt these advantages outweighed her downsized Viper strength. In her first battle, she was able to come to the rescue, and place herself in front of a damaged Battlestar, and back two Cylon Basestars down. She proceeded to pass between the two Basestars, fired all her main batteries and anti ship missiles and at the last second, turned and ran to escape the holocaust. Upon the results of the battle and her first cruise....the Colonial Fleet issued a contract for 12 "Armageddon" class battlestars, all to be built by Caprican Bridge and Ship, who had forced herself in bankruptcy, to deliver the ship fully operational and head of schedule. As the Judge was about to sign a court order to start liquidating the company, the Colonial Fleet announced it was purchasing the 11 other ships. Backstory by CinC Battleforce.

Eurytion Class Light Strike Star A fast-attack missile boat.

Pandarus Class Light Strike Star A more modern missile escort.

Battlestar Atlas From a design by Ravenstar Studios. A heavy battlestar from the late Cylon War era, designed to be able to accomidate larger vessels than normal in its hanger bays.

Armored Galactica From a design by Ravenstar Studios. A Galactica class ship, fully armored and modernized.

Tiger Class Destroyer/Strikestar Another, different re-imagination of a design by Dexter Smith of the Battlestar Galactica Technical Manual

Assaultstar Aethon Entering service during the 1st Cylon War, the Aethon was intended to transport large numbers of ground troops and their equipment and landers to get them on the surface. Resembling a "squashed" Battlestar, the ships were never intended for ship-to ship battles, though they carried heavy defensive armaments to defend against Cylon fighters. Escorting Battlestars and smaller warships would defend the transport as well as provide orbital fire support for ground troops. The huge flight pods held several large vehicle landers as well as numerous smaller troop carriers, but no Vipers. The main criticism of the design of the design was poor speed and maneuverability. To cut costs, smaller, off-the-shelf engines were used and they could barely move the ship when fully loaded. This was seen as a minor problem since a normal mission profile would have an Aethon jump into close orbit of a target world or space station, disgorge its troops and vehicles, then jump back to a rear area, all the while under escort.

Battlestar Selene Based on Ravenstar's Atlas above, but with much of her armor removed. By the time of the Cylon holocaust, the Selene was part of the reserve fleet.

Battlestar Heracles The Galactica Class design proved itself during the Cylon War, and several more modified versions were built in the post war years. With advances in FTL technology, the need to retract the flight pods to jump was eliminated and the added space available was used for additional storage to extend its endurance.

Two-seat MkII Viper A training or possibly strike variant of the MkII.

Viper MkII "Space Superiority" color scheme The same grey used on the MkVII

Viper Mk IV The DeSanto revival effort Viper, repainted to the same scheme as the new series MkII.

Viper MkVII in MkII color scheme.

Two-seat Viper MkVII and ECM variant Based on drawings by Talos.

Colonial Landing Craft A small Marine landing craft designed to be launched from Viper launch tubes.

Viper MkV Based on a design from the BSG video game for the XBox

Viper MkIB Based on a design by Maui Williams

Viper Based on a design by Larson PsyckoSama has recolored the design to the later "Mk. VII" scheme, while Wolff 6.0 has given it a sharkmouth.

Python Mk II Based on Larson's Viper above, the Python is a Colonial FTL capable attack craft.

Viper Mk VIII Based on the Mk VII. Only a few were in service at the time of the Cylon attack.

Ships from "Battlestar Prometheus"

Ryan Keeton, author of the Battlestar Prometheus saga, was kind enough to let me draw the various ships in his story. I can not recommend this story enough! I personally think its as good, if not better, than the TV series. He's done a wonderful job of combining aspects of the original series, and even a character from Galactica 1980, into the new universe.

Battlestar Prometheus Nova Class The Novas are intended to be fleet command ships, with greatly expanded capabilities over the Mercury and Galactica classes.

Gunstar Vigilant Guardian Class Stealthy, with a heavy ECM capability, and a tremendous punch if all else fails.

Gunstar Sentinel Titan Class The Colonial Fleet's primary anti-fighter escort.

Scimitar Class Bomber A strike bomber based on the Raptor design, replacing the electronics, troop capacity, and FTL with a internal weapons bay and a considerable offensive punch.

Terran Alliance Conqueror Class Battlecruiser Pride of the Terran Alliance and roughly comperable to a Galactica Class Battlestar.

Terran Alliance Accipiter Class Fighter Slightly less powerful than Colonial Vipers, the Accipiter does have the advantage of agiity, especially in atmospheric flight.

Colonial Mover Part of the Rag Tag Fleet

Mining Ship Another member of the fleet

Colonial One/Inter-System Liner

Atlas Class Repair Ship The Atlas is designed to support and aid in the repair of escorts, she can handle most ships up to about the size of the Andrasta Light Cruiser. Basically this ship is there to provide external support, power, life support etc for an escort while repairs are done, meaning the ship in question can shut off pretty much everything, reactors, life support plant, recycling units and live off the support ship while it does repairs. The ship can also perform FTL jumps with a ship in the docked position in the event that the ship is too badly damaged to effect repairs where it is and needs more extensive facilities. Atlas hooked up to a Lares-class Frigate

Orion Class Heavy Carrier (Picon Colors) The Orion-class Heavy Carrier first saw service towards the end of the Colonial War in the fleets and task forces of the Picon Fleet, at the time of her launch and for many years after she was the largest jump capable warship of any colony, although poorly armed relative to many ships serving at the time her multiple wings of strike craft proved decisive countless times and turn many a battle in Picon's favour. The Orion's sported four complete flight decks and commonly fielded more than ten squadrons of fighters, half of which were Cylon piloted. Due to their size and the time it took to construct only three of these vessels were completed by the end of the war, Orion, Aurora and Pegasus but following the re-unification the design filtered down to all the other colonies who were soon fielding their own Orions. Several Orion-class vessels fell into enemy hands including the Orion herself when the Cylons rose against mankind, the unsuspecting crews easy prey for the large mechanical force carried aboard and the five vessels formed the backbone of the early Cylon fleet, as a consequence all remaining ships were refitted, replacing all Cylon equipment in favour of conventional, human-controlled systems. Battlestar Eternal A Mercury Class Battlestar, like the Pegasus. The drawing is somewhat provisional since detailed orthographic views of the "Beast" are not yet available and the drawing is based on screen caps which are less accurate. Eternal is commanded by Admiral Wataru Nokari, commander of Battlestar Groups 106 and 107.

Gunstar Designed as a smaller and more easily produced companion to the Battlestars. Heavily armed, including two large bow cannons intended to "crack" Baseships. Twenty were built during the first Cylon War, with fourteen lost.

Zeus Class Warstar The Zeus Class Warstar was designed and constructed during the third year of the Cylon War. Intended to reduce the strain on the few Battlestars, which were being stretched to thin. A Warstar's function is to provide a middle ground between the Gunstar and Battlestar. During a fleet battle a Gunstar would attack a Cylon ship with its main cannons (opening a rather large hole in its hull), and the Warstar would come in launching a salvo of nuclear devices that would usually act as the final death blow. When a Battlestar wasn't available a Warstar could easily takes its place, providing a small task force with a command and control ship. The only downside being its lack of fighter craft and heavy anti-fighter/missile batteries. During the war a total of 6 Warstarswere constructed, 2 were lost.

Ares Class Gunstar The Ares class is the third generation Gunstar developed for the Colonial fleet. Thirty years after the end of the Cylon war the Hercules class Gunstar was nearing the end of its usefulness, much like its predecessor the Alicta at the end of the war. With new technologies available, fleet developers began designing its replacement. They designed the Ares to be the deadliest vessel in the Colonial Fleet, with the hopes of even possibly phasing out the Battlestars that had dominated the fleet for decades. The Ares would incorporate a new type of weapon, instead of using massive rail guns (as the previous two Gunstar classes had) the Ares would use a new type of missile system. These new missiles would have the ability of striking at an enemy light-years away from the position of the Ares, they would accomplish this by use of an onboard FTL system. Once Raptors had located a target they would jump back to the ship and transmit the coordinates. At that point the Gunstar would launch either one or all eight Intersystem Ballistic Missiles (ISBM), which would jump to the target. The missile carries eight nuclear warheads, once launched the warheads would either converge and attack the same target or would take on separate targets. When the abilities of this new weapon system were revealed, Fleet Command decided to go ahead with production of three Ares class Gunstars.

Battlestar Hyperion The Hyperion was built towards the end of the first Cylon war. She was the only one of her class completed, the rest were cancelled, as a sign of peace. Hyperion has 25% more mass than the first battlestars. The drawing is based on drawings by Alexzandyr J., specifically his Zeus class and Gunstar above.

Size Comparison Chart

Fury Class Skirmishstar The Fury Class Skirmishstar entered service after the war as a quick fix to bolster the fleet. Three were built, however due to their speed and versatility, the admiralty ordered nine more of them. As more Battlestars were built, the role of the Skirmishstar changed to that of anti-piracy patrol ships. Seven Skirmishstars were still in service at the time of the Cylon attack.

City Class Siegestar The Siegestar, unlike the Warstar was designed to operate as both a command ship, and support ship to an entire task force.  With mining and refinery facilities, workshops, and hydroponics gardens the City class lived up to its name.  President Adar ordered the fleet to use the Siegstars for deep space exploration missions.  It is unknown if any survived the fall of the colonies.

Light Skirmishstar After the success of the Fury class Skirmishstar, the Colonial Fleet ordered a lighter version to be built.  Ten Light Skirmishstar were built, and served in the fleet for thirty years, after which they were then sold in to private service to security companies.

Heavy Skirmishstar With the success of the Skirmishstar, it was decided to try and build a replacement to the Battlestar. The prototype Heavy Skirmishstar while having impressive firepower was too costly for them to be mass-produced. The Kraken entered service but was quickly converted in to a gunnery training ship.

Battlestar Madrigal Built at the same time as the Mercury Class. These smaller Battlestars offered most the benefits of the Mercury Class, but at half the cost, and building time. With the Adar administration cutting the fleets budget, the fleet was forced to cut back on the Mercury Class Battlestars, and concentrate on the smaller ships.

Forge Class Support Ship During the war when many Colonial ships were forced to scuttle due to battle damage. It was decided to build a ship that could be used as a repair platform. The Forge class was so successful that they were still found in service at the time of the Cylon attack.

Mercy Class Hospital Ship The Mercy Class Hospital Ship, or Medstar as it was nick named by Colonial Forces entered service half way through the war. As more battles were fought in deep space, the Fleet needed a way to treat it wounded beyond the care that could be provided on a Battlestar. If caught in battle, blast doors dropped to cover the large viewing ports on either side of the hull. These ships were still service when the Colonies fell.

Light Escort The Light Escort was used as a convoy escort ship during the war. This allowed the Fleet to free up the larger ships for other duties. Over one hundred were built, but by the end of the war only sixteen remained. Of the survivors four ships were kept in service to act as training ships.

Light Corvette The Colonial Fleet used these ships as escorts, as well as a scout ship. Quick to build, they were also the first class of ship to use a landing bay that ran across the beam of the ship. The Light Corvette can still be found performing border patrol duties to this day.

Hades Class Assaultstar The Hades Class Assaultstar was the first ship deigned to be used by the Colonial Marine Force. They were also used as command vessels if a Battlestar was unavailable. Only one of the three Hades class was lost during the war, the other two are still in service to this day.

Battlestar Morrigan The Morrigan and her sister ships entered service in the last year of the first Cylon war. It was the hope of the Admiralty that these new ships would become the backbone of the Fleet. But with the end of the war the Admiralty were able to take the time to build larger ships.

Assaultstar Pandora The Assaultstar Pandora and her sister ships were used by the Colonial Marines as both troop transport, and staging area. They also carried a small complement of Vipers in order to give the Marines air support. Many were still in service at the time of the Cylon attack. Redrawn by XRaiderV1 to remove jpeg compression distortions.

Legend Class Escort The Legend Class was introduced in order to allow the Admiralty to retire some of the older escort ships that were left over from the Cylon war. These ships can be found all over the Colonies performing a wide range of duties, including anti-piracy and border patrols. Redrawn by XRaiderV1 to remove jpeg compression distortions.

Battlestar Paladin The Paladin was built as a test bed for systems that were to be included in the Warstar project, what wasn't expected by those involved that ship would prove to be a good Battlestar. Instead of being decommissioned and broke up the Fleet ordered eight more to be built. Redrawn by XRaiderV1 to remove jpeg compression distortions.

Warstar Daedalus Built ten year after the first Cylon war, the Daedalus and her sister ships were the first Warstars, and did not have to retract their hanger pods before making an FTL jump. Six were built in total; two were decommissioned and sent to the breakers yard. Three were mothballed. The Daedalus is the only one still on active service.

Hermes Class Light Battlestar With the Fleets resources stretched the Admiralty decided to re-introduce the Light Battlestar in to the Fleet. With the success of the Mercury Class Battlestar, and her smaller counterparts it was decided to use the same basic deign. The Hermes class is now a common sight throughout the Colonies.

Javelin Class Assaultstar The Javelin class is the latest Assaultstar to enter the Colonial Fleet. Carrying less armament than some of her predecessors the Javelin class is used to support Battlestars whenever the need arises. A fact that the Colonial Marines resent, as it cut down on there ability to operate on there own.

Demon Class Escort Built at the same time as the Hermes class, the Demon class proved to be more popular with the Fleet. This was due to the fact that they were more versatile than the Light Battlestars, and more easily maintained. Fifteen were serving with the Fleet when the Cylons attacked.

Assaultstar Minotaur The Minotaur was built in order to serve as the flagship for the Colonial Marines. She was on her shakedown cruise when the Cylons attacked. It is unknown if the Minotaur survived the attack, the last transmission sent said that they were trying to break their computer network.

Skirmishstar Chimera Thirty years after the Skirmishstar program was abandoned the Admiralty ordered a new prototype to be built. As in the original Skirmishstars, the new ships were to be a cheaper alternative to the Battlestar. The Chimera was on her acceptance trial when the Cylons attacked.

Meleestar Charybdis The Meleestars were built for one purpose, and that was to kill Baseships. To do this they were paired with Battlestars. The Battlestar would offer fighter support, while the Meleestar would use its speed to engage the Baseship at point blank range. Unlike the Battlestars, Meleestars engaged their targets broadside on.

Meleestar Scylla As the Fleet was upgraded after the war, the Admiralty decided to keep the Meleestar. While its armament remained the same, its role changed. It became a common site in the Colonies to see these ships guarding large Fleet bases. They were also used as flagships for some of the smaller battle groups.

Meleestar Philoctetes Before the Adar administration came to power the Fleet ordered ten new Meleestar to be constructed. By the time President Adar started down scaling the military, four had entered service, and two more were undergoing their shakedown cruises. The final four space frames were towed to the Fleet salvage yard above Scorpia.

Strikestar Reliant Based on a drawing by Alexzandyr J.

Escort Frigate Repulse A modification of Glen Wagner's Titan class Frigate, based on a drawing by Alexzandyr J.

Atlas Class Battlenova These warships are roughly the same size as a battlestar and were designed to support battlestar fleet operations by taking on cylon capital ships using their heavy weapon mounts both in the nose and on wing pods. The only major drawback to this was a lack of internal fighter landing bays. Some attributes of this ship come from Alexandyr J., Mike Brown, Todd Boyce and Psyckosama, along with my thanks.

Warbird Class Long Range Patrol Ship The Warbird Class Long Range Patrol Ship is designed for long endurance missions far from any support or re-supply.  It carries a full wing of fighters and scout ships and has enough firepower to handle any threat it happens to encounter.

Training Ship The training ships were used for cadets prior to being assigned to their permanent posting.  The Aries not only was used as a training ship, but as a carrier to deliver fighters and supplies to forward bases and outposts.  The twin bays on the Venture are completely separated to allow simultaneous flight operations between spacecraft traveling at different speeds.

Leonian (Pre-Unification) Tigerclaw Mk.I The Tigerclaw Mk. I was a Leonian project to develop a multirole strike fighter for it's military in the increasingly hostile political climate of the colonies before the first cylon war. Armed with two 25mm cannons on either side of the cockpit and the ability to mount large amounts of ordanance including nuclear antishipping misiles, the Tigerclaw was a force to be reckoned with. It was however expensive and slow compared to most other fighters of the period. The Attack model was armed with the two 25mm cannons, four medium hardpoints and one large hardpoint. It also had a ground attack DRADIS targeting system mounted under the nose. The Interceptor model replaced the centre large hardpoint with two medium hardpoints, the ground attack DRADIS was also not present. With development starting just before the first Cylon uprising, work continued throughout the war and during it's closing weeks the first combat units, two sqaudrons, were delivered for use onboard the Leonian heavy carrier LCS Sidra. However the Tigerclaw was never to see real combat as the Sidra was kept in defence of Leonis itself and the only oppnents where the occasional scouting raider. Nevertheless the Tigerclaws dispatched them with ease. When the cylons where forced to stalemate and left and the colonies unified the Tigerclaw was offered up as a contender for thecolonial fleet fighter. However it was much more expensive and larger than it's Caprican rival, the Viper Mk.II, and it could not fit inside the launch tubes of the new battlestars. The Tigerclaw lost the competion, but for a time it was operated by the Leonian reserve fleet before being phased out completely with the introduction of the faster and more advanced Viper Mk.III. Some years later when the Colonial fleet held another competion to replace the ageing Viper Mk.IV the Ghati Aerospace, Leonian company that made the Tigerclaw, offered an improved version, the Tigerclaw Mk.II, with increase firepower speed and range. However once again it was beaten by the Capricans with the Viper Mk. V. Though itproved popular with the Colonial Marine corps who saw great value in the heavy payload it could carry in ground support missions, during trials against ground targets it achieved top marks. During the time of the second Cylon attack most Tigerclaws where already sitting in scrap heaps on Leonis. However a few were being flown by a touring display team on Leonis, their fate is unknown, but they were presumably destroyed during the nuclear bombardment of the planet.

Leonian Colonial Reserves Tigerclaw Mk.II Along with two more 25mm cannons, added to increase it's effectiveness in strafing runs, several uprgarades were made to the DRADIS, avionics and engines to bring ithe Tigerclaw in line with the technological advancements of the time. The Tigerclaw Mk.II, was offered up to suplement the Viper Mk. V in the attack role. It was warmly recieved by the Marines who saw it's great value as a dedicated Close Air Support plane. However the accountants at Naval command and the Quroum budget committee decided that the Viper was more than capable enough tto fulfill the role itself. The Tigerclaw Mk.II was instead purchased by several Leonian Colonial Reserve Units, however Ghati Aerospace went bankrupt and production of replacements stopped leading to the Mk.II to be phased out via attrition. One of the four Tigerclaws that comprised the Captain Hanso's Flying Tigers Display team, on Leonis at the time of the second Cylon attack, was a Mk.II.

CMC Sidewinder Mk.III Main Battle Tank The Sidewinder series of MBTs first came into service a few years before the first Cylon war, manufactured by the Tauranian armaments company Knossan Munitions, to replace the older Scion series of Battle Tanks. The Sidewinder Mk.I was mainly used by the Tauranian Defence Forces and Marine Corps. However it was a very sucessful design and as such was widely exported and copied by the other colonies. Later, the Sidewinder Mk.II was used as the service MBT of the newly formed Colonial Marine Corps when it was founded after the unification of the Colonies. The last version was the Sidewinder Mk.III which came into service thirty years after unification. It was heavily armoured designed to withstand attacks from the latest infantry ATGMs and RPGs. The Mk.III was armed with a powerful 130mm main gun, a coaxial 20mm revolver cannon, a pintle mounted GPMG and an ATGM missile pod attached to the left side of the turret, guided by a Infra-red targeting device mounted on the right side. Other features include Auto Reactive Armour and turret mounted smoke dispensers. Sidewinders require a crew of three, driver, gunner and commander. At the time of the second Cylon attack, the Sidewinder Mk.III had been phased out of use in frontline units, to be replaced by the newer Silverback Mk.I MBTs (Also manufactured by Knossan Munitions). However many of the Colonies maintained some in their reserve forces, especially Tauron which had large stock piles of them. All are presumed to have been destroyed. But there may be some left, possibly in the use of resistance fighters left on the colonies.

CMC Salamander Mk.II Infantry Fighting Vehicle The Salamander Mk.II is a compact IFV designed to be taken quickly into any conditions by the marines. It is small enough to fit inside a Marine Corps Comorant Dropship and can be comabt dropped with a full squad of marines from orbit. It's speed and agility allow it to traverse great distance quickly so it can outmanuever enemy forces and deliver it's troops into the battle zone. In fighting the Salamander is meant to support it's troops by providing mobile heavy fire support where needed. It's large 40mm cannon can tear through even the toughest centurions and Cylon armour is no match for it's Firefly ATGMs. Salamanders are also often used a forward scouts and vanguards that probe territory in front of the main armoured advance and operate in wolf packs to mop up maurauding infantry and light vehicle units. The Salamander Mk.II is the backbone of the CMCs mechanized infantry divisions and was in widespread use at the time of the Cylon attack. Like the Mk.I before it the Mk.II was designed and manufactured by the Caprican company Sapra Munitions. Due to their widespread usage it is most likely that at least a few Salamanders survived the apocalyptic bombardment and it is possible that some are know in the hands of the resistance fighters still on the twelve colonies.

Medea Class Strikestar Roles are primarily Battlestar Fleet Escort where she scouts ahead of the main fleet with her small onboard flight complement and/or also providing suppressive fire during fleet engagements. Her Secondary role is that of being a member of a light raiding squadron alongside other small Colonial vessels to strike/cripple lightly defended targets behind the front lines and/or along the flanks of an engagement. These squadrons do not engage toe-to-toe against hostile ships but run from anything massing larger then two of their vessels combined (aka: virtually any basestar).

Dionysus class Missilestar Based on the Archer by Casual Observer.

Viper MkII-S "Sprinter" The Viper MkII-S 'Sprinter' was developed four years after the original was first deployed to the Colonial Fleet less then seven months before the Cylon War ended. Smaller, lighter, faster, and more maneuverable, she is in every way the original MkII's better except for her armament. The Sprinter mounts a single centerline, underslung, autocannon in place of the dual wing-root mounts of the original. A newer faster firing model that would later see use, again in dual mounts, on the Viper MkIII. In fact many of the design modifications utilized on the Sprinter would see use in the MkIII.

Triton class Prototype Battlestar The 1st Battlestar. Developed by scientists & engineers from all twelve colonies it would lay the foundation for all battlestars to come. Direct ancestor of the Columbia class. The class was nearly retired just as the 1st Cylon War broke out and all ships were rushed back into service after an emergency overhaul at the various shipyards in the colonies. The Triton herself fought in no less then seventeen major engagements, one of which was fought until her port flight-pod was destroyed beyond repair (she would spend eight months drydocked being fitted out with a new pod). After the war, having been over-shadowed by the newer Columbia class, the Tritons were decommissioned and put into mothballs. Later on after the development of the Mercury class, it was decided that the ninth Mercury hull, still under construction, would be commissioned upon its completion as the next (second) Triton in honor of the original illustrious ship.

Canopus Class Gunship The Canopus class gunship, a military version of the Colonial Heavy series jumpliner, is a dedicated attack craft within the Colonial Fleet. Used both as an escort for a Battlestar taskforce, or in squadron strength attack groups that work independently from the main fleet. Her offensive armament consists of four single barrel rapid-fire KEW turrets are mounted on sponsoon pods on either side of the main hull, along with two spinal rapid-fire KEW cannon, and 8 missile tubes forward. Defensively she has no less then 36 anti-fighter dual cannon mounts. No provisions for Viper launch tubes, although like her civilian model, she has a cargo deck amidships that can hold up to 10 Vipers or 5 Raptors.

Artemis class Patrolstar Where the Hyperion is designed for beyond visual range/indirect fire, the Artemis is the polar opposite. Mounting three Columbia class Battlestar turrets, along with two smaller turrets (not counting point-defensive autocannon), just one Artemis can put out a volume of fire nearly 60% of a Columbia class' main batteries. Her main concession to fit this in such a small hull is that she carries no onboard Viper complement, with only enough room for two Raptors in an aft bay, and that her turret arrangement is unique to say the least. The main forward turret is traditionally placed just below the forward section in the sensor trench. For the other two main turrets, their setups are highly unusual, yet highly effective in use. To mount the large turrets and the equipment needed internally to support them, each is offset vertically from the other. One turret has complete 360 unobstructed coverage along the top dorsal area, while the other has identical coverage of the ventral area. While not enough space left internally to allow for a quadruple mount, like the Hyperion, there is enough for two large DRADIS domes mounted at the 'bottom' of each turret stack. This doubling of the main sensors allows for a far greater clarity at range, with slightly more then 17% longer DRADIS range then a Battlestar due to the better overall sensors. Based on a design from the game Battlestar Galactica: Beyond the Red Line

Persephone class Destroyer The Persephone class destroyer, nicknamed 'The BFG' or 'Big Floating Gun', was an utter menace to Cylon forces throughout the second half of the Cylon War. Only Hades class super basestars carried enough armor to withstand the pounding the spinal cannons of the Persephone could produce. Designed from the keel outward around the spinal cannon it is the sole Colonial design to do so. While other ships carry them, none are as dedicated to long range fire support as the Persephones. Five large KEW turrets (3 topside amidship, 2 bottom amidship) and three of the medium scale turrets (2 topside bow, 1 bottom bow) make up her secondary batteries which can produce a withering amount of fire for such a small ship. Defensive batteries are made up of 49 dual anti-fighter mounts. Her single off-set flight pod is for a single squadron of Vipers and five Raptors which can provide cover while the Persephone directly engages hostile capital class targets. While a taskforce of ten Persephones masses less then a single heavy Battlestar, the overall number of Vipers available from the Persephones alone is nearly double that of the far larger vessel.

Ieolus class Strikestar The successor to the Medea class, the Ieolus made a substantial name for itself as a fleet escort in the final year of the First Cylon War, and later during its post war refits. Upwards of two complete Viper squadrons could be maintained with ease aboard ship, with enough room left for an entire squadron of Raptors, a rare thing for even the larger Battlestars. Designed by the same engineering staff that had developed the Peresphone class Destroyer two years earlier, it shares a very strong family resemblence to its older sister, especially in the bow which is nearly identical - including the infamous spinal cannon. Overall her armament mix is primarily defensive oriented, not counting the spinal cannon mount, but she does have two peculiar turrets. Just aft of her primary DRADIS dome is a dedicated dual tube missile turret which draws munitions up from a recessed vertical cell style magazine below it. Any anti-ship missile of colonial design with the exceptions of super-heavy anti-ship & interplanetary ballistic missiles (both of which are still the sole properties of the Battlestars themselves and the Hyperion class) can be launched from this turret allowing for a very diverse mix available to the ship's Commander. This, along with a matching turret along the bottom of the hull, allows an Ieolus to launch missile salvos in nearly any direction without needing to reorient the ship.

Aquila class Attackstar The Aquila is then one of the few large scale warships within the Colonial military able to enter and exit a planetary atmosphere at will. And it is the only one that is aerodynamic enough to maintain flight using thrust only without needing anti-gravity support, although it does have them for additional manueverability and redundancy. All its major turrets are either fully retractable or semi-retractable in the case of its two largest. The Aquila's missile batteries, all set forwards, are recessed as well.

Heracles class Battlecruiser Whereas a Battlestar is a even mix of anti-ship armament and fighter carrier, the Heracles class of Battlecruisers sacrifices virtually all of the Vipers in exchange for the heaviest anti-ship based batteries on any Colonial warship. A ship-killer from the keel outwards her four dual cannon main batteries are the largest ever fit on turrets. Anything larger would require a spinal or fixed mounting. Nothing in the Colonial fleet, or known Cylon vessels can withstand more then two full broadside volleys from its main batteries without crippling damage. If she can bring all her main turrets to bear, along with four of her smaller turrets, meaning the target is across her bow, then even a Hades class Cylon Command Basestar can be destroyed in a single salvo from her guns. She does however carry a single Viper squadron aboard, split between two small flight bays hidden behind armored doors as a deterrent to any fighters attempting to attack her.

Zephyrus Commandstar The Zephyrus Commandstar was a direct result of the First Cylon War. While the Battlestars of the era were, and still are, excellent designs, they were primarily built to work either independently, or with escorts. What they were not however designed for was commanding a fleet of additional Battlestars. The commanding officer aboard a Battlestar already had to give orders to their own ship, her escorting vipers, and to the smaller ships as it was. Adding in dealing with multiple Battlestars ended up creating minor havoc in the command centers as Admirals and their staffs had to share room with the Commander of the Battlestar. To remedy this, the Zephyrus was introduced in the last year of the war. While lighter then the Columbia class, she is in fact even more heavily reinforced, as is clearly evident in that she has three support pylons for her flight-pods instead of two. Another notable external difference is that she has three spinal clusters of two turrets each, instead of two spinal clusters of four turrets. While this lessens her ability to direct fire against other warships, it is made up for by mounting two spinal bow KEW cannons which can perform a 'one-two' knockout punch against even the largest Cylon Basestars of the day, making for a powerful deterrent against attacking a Zephyrus head-on. Her defensive armaments on the other hand are identical to a Columbia class which makes for a tougher target to get close to considering her smaller size. Finally a design change that can only be appreciated from inside is that she mounts twin command decks at either end of the ship. The forward command center is for commanding the ship itself with the rear deck for use by an Admiral and her staff. The rear deck does have additional crew stations for fleet communications but is otherwise identical to the forward deck, and can double as the ship's command center in case the forward deck is damaged or cut-off from communications for whatever reason.

Viper Mk VIII "Marathon" The Marathon is designed as a long-range strike fighter and as a mean for 'recon in force' method for scouting out areas ahead of a fleet. Equipped with a hyperlight drive similiar to both the Cylon Scimitar's and a Colonial Raptor which allows for a multitude of tactics, most of which were only available to the Cylons before this point. Her autorailguns are of a slightly smaller caliber which has been proven to still be more then sufficient against Cylon Raider armor and even Heavy Raiders, but also to allow for more ammunition to be carried onboard for more sustained combat times before having to return to base.

Viper Mk IX "Pilum" While the Mark VIII 'Marathon' slowly entered service in the Galactica fleet, already another design was in the works to fill the role of a true space superiority role within the Viper Squadrons. While the baseline Mark VII and 'Maelstrom' variants are both space superiority types they were both designed prior to the outbreak of the 2nd Cylon War/Colonial Massacre and thus did not take into account the radical changes that the Cylons would use with such lethality. The Mk VIII Marathon was the first design to do so, but while it gained the ability to perform long range hyperlight jumps it also resulted in the lose of its upper tail-gun mount due to weight and fuel constraints. With that, the Marathon is more of an interceptor and strike fighter then anything else. The Mark IX 'Pilum' instead was designed to replace the Mark VIIs as the next generation space superiority fighter. Mounting four autorailguns in comparison to the Mark VII's three, with computer aided auto-aiming, it is extremely lethal to any non-capital hull shown to date by the Cylons. Especially so as the two cannon mounted in recessed areas of the hull are of a 40mm caliber which can tear apart even a Heavy Raider with ease. Unfortunately there is not enough room for a hyperlight drive, so instead enlarged fuel tanks and two larger ammunition drums were installed. However work is being done on reverse-engineering a Cylon Scimitar Raider's miniaturized hyperlight drive that would be able to fit in both the Mark VIII and the Mark IX.

Trireme Light Support Craft Unlike the Renovatur class of Viper Recovery Craft, which is designed to refuel & rearm Vipers (or recover damaged ones & retrieve their pilots) mid-mission, the Trireme is build for carrying a small initial amount of Vipers into an area as rapidly as possible. Usually these are elite squadrons piloted by the best in the Fleet for surgical first strike operations. Each Trireme can carry up to twelve vipers at a time which are preloaded onboard into a vertical launch arrangement, relative to the rest of the ship. They are then launched six at a time, then the second group is moved into place and launched. While having some degree of mass-driver launch support for an additional velocity boost, the Vipers are also fitted with one-time use rocket assist pods which break away shortly after launch. Four quad barrel anti-fighter KEW turrets are carried aboard the ship for defensive purposes only as the Trireme is not designed to close for combat against any major warship, even something as small as Light Attack Craft.

Custodis class Patrol Cutter The Custodis was designed in conjunction with the Canopus class Gunship and the Spiculum class Anti-Fighter Escort by BAV, Borealis Aerospace of Virgon, specifically for the Colonial Guards. Less then a dozen were purchased by Colonial Fleet for use as picket ships for patrolling the Cylon Armistice Line.

Spiculum class Assault Ship When the Colonial Fleet needs to rapidly assault a ground base facility, a disabled ship, or simply to break up incoming multiple fighter craft squadrons, they call upon the Spiculum class. Designed as a combination bomber, gunship, troop carrier, and dropship, the Spiculum is one of the few multi-role vessels that manages to excel in all its given roles. Armed with four dual barrel anti-fighter KEW mounts that are of the lightest class able to utilize fragmentation shells, and twenty-four smaller autocannon, just one of these ships is equal to nearly an entire squadron of Vipers. While designed on the Colonial Heavy 100 series, she is fully armored and outright immune to fighter scale munitions with the exception of fighter carried anti-ship missiles. If fitted out for a dropship/troop carrier role, several of her internal magazines are modular and can be removed to provide space for up to 160 assault troops that can be delivered into virtually any environment. Additionally 5 ground vehicles of various size can be carried as well, or up to 280 troops and no vehicles. If fitted out this way her ammunition stores are cut by over 53%. If fitted for a role as bomber, the transport bay is instead filled with a large anti-ship pod that can be extended almost entirely out of the bottom rear airlock hatch that contains enough racks for twenty short-range high-speed anti-ship missiles that can be fired in a single salvo, or spread over a number of targets. All Spiculum class Assault ships carry hyperlight drives, are fully trans-atmospheric flight capable, and able to land on any solid ground. Several Spiculum class ships have been modified for water landings to allow for amphibious assaults, but they make up a very small minority amongst the class. While the class does carry a name, the vessels are officially registered in a combination number prefix. Unofficially they are often named by their original crews with the names being passed on as crews rotate out, with the names spanning a range of descriptors, serious, comical, and even vulgar.

Tempestas class Light Cruiser The Tempestas was designed around the paradigm of anti-fighter & anti-missile suppression as the escort of choice for Battlestars and the large capital ships of the Colonial Fleet. Mounting four massive flak mortar batteries it can produce a flak barrage greater then that produced by the Mercury class Battlestars. An additional six VLS missile launchers allow for even further ranged attacks on fighter and bombers or for use in counter-missile fire. Finally she has seven medium caliber KEW railgun turrets for offensive work in supporting larger units with their larger, more diverse, and far more powerful turrets. Carries two Shuttles onboard in a ventral docking bay.

BattleStar Dreadnaught 4 years after the ending of the cylon war the Colonial's realized that they need more stronger and powerful BattleStars to aid them in the defense of the colonies of Kobol. Destined to defend the long sided religious planet of Geminon, the Dreadnaught was equiped with the most highest-grade KEW cannons that were equiped to here starboard and port pod. With n extended head the colonials devised a new plan to add 3 more KEW cannons to head head, right directly in the middle. Now tightly fasioned in the depts of the body the CIC was near impetrable by any attack. Years after deployment to defend Geminon in a Orbital Defense orbit the cylons attacked. But here demise came soon because of here newly equiped network system that was personnally set up by Gauis Baltar"s assistant. With no defense and no power she was destroyed near immediate by nucs that the cylons had sent towards her. Her end was fast and painless but was not without pain of those lost of those who defended Geminon from oncoming threats of pirates and rebels.

Battlestar Achilles The Odysseus class Battlestar was designed to the same general specifications which spawned the Mercury class. The Odysseus was designed and proposed by an independent ship contractor named Pantheon Shipyards. While Pantheon had been contracted by the Colonial government to produce a variety of small corvettes and frigates of their design, they had never undertaken anything close to the size of a battlestar. However their design proposal found favor with a small group of Admirals and soon Pantheon was given the green light (and much needed funding) to build two proof-of-concept models. Two years later, after experiencing significant delays, the Odysseus was launched for her trials with the Ulysses following soon thereafter. It was these delays that made Pantheon look unfavorable with the Admiralty, though the contractor maintained most delays were the result of corporate espionage. The ships performed well however, much more so than the larger (and more capable) Mercuries who were still working the bugs out after nearly a year of service. The Admiralty proposed a compromise: funding to finish two more Odysseus class ships but no further expansion of the order. Just over a year later, this time free of unexpected delays, the Achilles and Perseus were launched to join their sisters in Colonial service.

Strikestar Gorgon Pantheon shipyards learned it's lessons well with the Odysseus class Battlestars. They went on to design a new type of warship. Nearly as large as a Battlestar, the Gorgon and Minotaur would carry no Vipers and had only two small landing bays (P/S) for half a dozen Raptors and two or three shuttles. Instead these Men-of-War would carry an immense conventional battery load. Sporting 32 twin batteries (equaling the firepower of a Mercury class) the main armament consisted of ten heavy batteries of a new design, nearly twice the caliber of the pre-existing guns. Several banks of recessed missile tubes and a healthy nuclear payload rounded out the armament.

Marathon Class Light Battlestar Towards the end of the Cylon war, the front stretched from one end of the Colonies to the other. Try as they might, the fledgling fleet of battlestars could not be everywhere at once. However, the concept of the Battlestar was one which was here to stay. The Admiralty looked for ways to increase Battlestar numbers in months, not years. Enter the Light Battlestar Project. Designed to create a smaller ship which was easier and fast to build, these new ships, as the name implies, would have the same mission capabilities as larger battlestars, only on a smaller scale. The Marathon class was born. Taking design elements from the highly successful Galactica and her sisters, the Marathon class ships sported fewer guns and roughly half the Viper compliment. Command and Control abilities were limited, as was the endurance before the need for resupply. Built for a short term gain, the Marathon class filled it's assigned niche perfectly. After the war, however, the Admiralty abandoned the Light Battlestar Project now that time constraints were a thing of the past. The Marathon herself was decommissioned, along with the rest of her sisters save two. The Thermopylae (BSL-3) and Salamis (BSL-7) were retained, modernized through the years and served as second-line units, usually assigned freshly graduated officers and pilots in order to get some practical experience before being transferred to a permanent duty station.

Hyperion Class Carrier The Hyperions were designed to be one of several classes that would support Battlestars. Given the multi-purpose nature of the first classes of battlestars, their Viper carrying ability was somewhat limited: usually 4 squadrons (80 Vipers) on a Galactica type ship. The Hyperions were used as light carriers. Lightly armed, lacking long endurance and substantial support/maintenance abilities, Hyperions were used to bring more Vipers (3 squadrons) to a specific fight/campaign. They were also used to guard otherwise naked supply convoys from Cylon raiders. Production continued after the war for a few years, until newer classes of battlestars started carrying larger numbers of Vipers. At the time of the Cylon attack, nearly a dozen were still in service.

Osiris Class Strikestar Built in the last year of the Cylon war, the Osiris class Strikestars were meant to travel in Battlestar groups, providing extra firepower. Lacking any Viper carrying ability, the Osiris class ships maintained no fewer than 32 twin turrets of the kind found on Battlestars, giving them quite a bit of punch for a ship roughly 2/3 the size. Six large engines ensured they could run rings around their larger cousins and could quickly respond to tactical changes on the battlefield. The Osiris class proved exceptional in it's role and the class was produced well after the war. No less than forty remained in service at the time of the Cylon attack.

Colonial Destroyer A Colonial destroyer developed along side the Indra class battlestars in an attempt to modernize the Osiris class ship concept. The project did not succeed as well as had been hoped. Production halted after just half a dozen ships had been produced.

Mobile Dock Leonidas A mix between tender and planetary assault ship, these little mobile dock ships provided a home and more importantly extensive service facilities for embarked colonial craft. Raptors, shuttles, entire Viper squadrons, and various smaller ships could be serviced here. She also carries a dozen small work pods allowing it to service much larger ships, such as battlestars. Some were given to troop transport, like the Leonidas pictured where the hangar space was used to assault transports and a Colonial Marine staging area.

Mobile Dock Alexander A subclass of the above, this class reduces gun armament in favor of a small Viper hangar carrying two squadrons making this ship capable of independant operations without the assistance of a battlestar or carrier.

Warstar Olympus. Forty two years after the end of the Cylon War, the Admiralty initiated a program to replace the Atlantia as a fleet command ship which had soldiered on since the war. Like the Atlantia, which was based off the first class of Battlestar, the Olympus was based off the then-new Mercury class. Six years later she was launched. Housing nearly 400 embarked craft, 56 twin turrets and 120 VLS silos made her the largest and most heavily armed ship in the fleet along with the best command and control, intelligence and communications systems cubits can buy. It was all for not, however. The Olympus was caught at her moorings at the Valhalla Fleet Yards above Sagitarron during the opening salvos of the Cylon attack, leaving the Atlantia to once again carry the burden of fleet flagship.

MissileStar Archer. A medium warship in the Colonial Fleet, the MissileStar was a departure from normal Colonial design philosophy. The class relied on multiple VLS banks as it's main offensive weapons, to be fired at stand-off ranges, while minimal gun armament was mainly defensive. A small aft hanger could be used for housing Raptors or attack shuttles.

Light Battlestar Delphi. Another class derived from the Light Battlestar Program, the Delphi class ships were generally similar to the Galactica type ships, but roughly half the size. Lightly armed with only 14 turrets and four squadrons of fighters, it proved vital in bolstering Battlestar numbers during the desperate months late in the war. Named after major cities in the Colonies, all 12 of the Delphi class ships were decommissioned immediately after the war as the military downsized drastically, though four avoided scrapping and were maintained in a reserve yard. Their nonoperational status, however, did not save them from the Cylon attack.

Battlestar Polyhymnia. Designed and built along the lines of the somewhat smaller Battlestars popular after the Cylon War as a cost-saving measure, the Polyhymnia was the lead ship of her class. With 4 Viper squadrons and 14 Twin turrets, she maintained a respectable combat capability at only two-thirds the cost of a larger battlestar. The idea had merit, but increased defense budgets allowed for larger designs. Hence the larger Indra type was developed using the Polyhymnia as a base. She and her three sister ships, all named after lesser Lords of Kobol, remained in fleet service and were still considered front line units at the time of the Cylon attack.

A collection of advanced Vipers

Top Row, Left to Right

Scorpian/Colonial Rattler Mk.V : Designed by Scorpia as a successor to the StarWolf in order to fight the advanced Caprican Serpents, the Rattler first flew three years before the Cylon War and Colonial Unification. Updated throughout the war along side the Viper (descendant of the Serpent), the Mk.V was the definitive example flown at the end of the war. More powerful, more heavily armed and with better atmospheric performance it also cost three times as much and required twice the maintenance as the Viper and was never produced in large numbers, though examples continued to serve for nearly forty years after the war.

Colonial Viper Mk.VII : Front line Colonial fighter 50 years after the Cylon war equips nearly all front line squadrons, though older models of the Viper (primarily Mk.Vs) can still be found in Colonial Militia units. (Based on physical model seen on the hanger set, not the CGI model.)

Colonial Viper Mk.VIIF / Mk.VIII : Designed as an upgrade to the Mk.VII, the changes were vast enough to warrant a new designation. The Mk.VIII only saw limited use with some test and evaluation squadrons; the Admiralty deciding to wait the extra year for the Mk.IX prototype to fly before making a final decision.

Middle Row

Colonial Viper Mk.IX : Though sharing a very similar outward appearance as the Mk.VII, the Mk.IX is an entirely new craft. From weapons, to hardware, to software and everything in between requiring half the maintenance, the Mk.IX proved to be the next evolution of the Viper design. Ordered into production immediate by the Admiralty, the design was altered slightly due to test-pilot feedback. The "C" version represents the definitive version which was just reaching the first fleet units just months before the Cylon attack.

Colonial Diamondback Mk.II : A maintenance nightmare, short ranged and with "the flight characteristics of a brick" the Diamondback lacks many of the sophisticated systems found on Vipers and is little more than an airborne gun platform usually stationed aboard planetary assault ships. Intended to be used against capital ships and fortified ground targets the Diamondback is looked down upon by Viper pilots-- a fact Diamondback pilots admit with pride.

Bottom Row

Colonial Recon Viper Mk.XI. : With nearly every internal inch packed with sensors, cameras, ECM and EW receivers, transponders, transmitters, decryption and scrambling software, the thin skinned and unarmed Recon Viper relies on it's impressive speed and maneuverability for survival being able to literally fly rings around it's combat counterparts. Few are known to have been produced, almost all of which are operated by Colonial Intelligence.

Colonial Viper Mk.XIII : Just as the Mk.IX proved to outclass the Mk.VIIs, the Mk.XIII would be an even larger advancement in Viper design. Almost all details are classified, though it is known at least one prototype was built and test flown only a week before the Cylon attack.

Colonial Adder Mk.III : An early attempt by Caprican engineers to design a light fighter loosely based on the Scorpian Rattler produced the Adder. While is proved a poor combat aircraft and quickly withdrawn from front line service, it found a niche as an intermediate flight trainer. Limited numbers were produced and have been continually upgraded over the past 50 years. Several dozen were still in use by the Colonial Flight School before the Cylon attack. Also, as the only military-grade craft on the civilian market, it has become a classic "Rich Man's Toy"- some examples selling for as high as Six Million cubits.

Colonial Pterodactyl. Designed as a purpose built military shuttle and assault transport, the Pterodactyl lacked the Electronic Warfare, ECM and Recon abilities of the much smaller Raptor. It can, however, fit three full squads of Colonial Marines and their equipment in relative comfort.

Colonial Basilisk. Designed as a heavy attack craft, the Basilisk can utilize the standard launch tube, though littler clearance is left. It requires a two man crew- pilot and weapons system officer responsible for the ordinance housed in the weapons bay. Large and expensive, it was procured in modest numbers and usually only stationed among front line Battlestars.

Colonial Anaconda. A two seat heavy fighter designed to replace the Scorpian designed StarWolf which had such great success during the Cylon War. Unfortunately immediate post-war budget cuts meant very few Anacondas were built- though they were maintained and remained in front line service, usually stationed aboard long range exploration vessels.

Some early model fighters used by Colonial forces in the pre-unification wars. The Scorpian Swallow was pure predator and like the Starwolf of later decades, reigned supreme over contemporary designs of it's time. Lack of long range and multi-mission capability were it's main downfalls. The Canceron Salamander equipped their small but highly professional defense force and was used to maintain that world's neutrality in the on going conflicts between Scorpia and Caprica. The Caprican Meteor was a jack of all trades, master of none craft who's simple ruggedness earned the respect of pilots on all sides. It remained in production until the development of the Starlance and Starflare designs.

Caprican Starlance. Developed forty-five years before the Cylon War, the Starlance was a no-thrills craft which was adequately armed with respectable maneuverability. Simple and rugged, it formed the backbone of Caprican forces (as well as it's allies Gemenon, Acquaria and Tauron). It suffered heavily against the Scorpian Starwolf late in it's career however.

Caprican Starflare. Developed along side the Starlance, the Starflare was fast and more manueverable, though it cost more and was harder to maintain. It was purchased in modest numbers by Caprica and Tauron, equipping elite fighter wings. Like the Starlance, it suffered heavily with the introduction of the Scorpian Starwolf.

Scorpian StarWolf. Developed by Scorpia in it's continuing wars with Caprica prior to Colonial Unification, the Starwolf was a revolutionary craft. More powerful and heavily armed than anything else in the 12 Colonies, it reigned supreme for nearly 30 years until the development of the Caprican Serpent.

Scorpian StarWolf. The epitome of the design, this was the final incarnation of the StarWolf design and entered service a year before the Cylon War. It saw service with Scorpian units until the gradual integration of Colonial Forces was complete in the last months of the war. With it, Scorpian pilots achieved an impressive kill ratio of 13:1 (the Viper kill ratio was 6:1).

Caprican Serpent. Developed to counter the Scorpian StarWolf, the Serpent was the best Caprican engineers could come up with. Merging speed, maneuverability, ruggedness and ergonomics almost perfectly for the day, it's only short-coming was a relatively light armament. It proved an even match for the StarWolf with a competent pilot at the controls. With the outbreak of the Cylon War, it would be the basis for the new standard Colonial fighter-- the Viper.

Viper MkVII "Malestorm Variant" Seen in the episode "Malestorm", it differs considerably from previous MkVII's seen in the show.

Advanced Vipers:

Top row: MkVII- the one we all know and love. Front line fighter at the time of the Holocaust. Equipped the overwhelming majority of Colonial squadrons. MkVIII- new 4 gun arrangement, new gun-less vertical fin, moved the cockpit back slightly closer to center of gravity, and extended under nose intake. few proff of concept models produced. Not chosen for production. Anaconda Mk. IV- two-seat heavy fighter. original 3-gun arrangement. has increased life support and avionics needed for second crewman. Larger wing provides better atmospheric performance and greater area for under-wing stores. Limited production run.

Second row: MkVIIC- "C" term applied to rough-fabrication of Vipers using ship-board facilities. Other than minor outward aesthetic differences, same as Mk.VII. MkIX- all the refinements of the Mk.VIII and the wing of the Anaconda series. Chosen for mass production and fleet deployment 1 year prior to Holocaust. Equiped roughly 10% of Colonial fighter forces facing Cylon invasion. Anaconda Mk.V- New forward wing sections and removal of 1 gun for optimal efficiency. Specialized in heavy fighter and ground attack roles. Chosen for mass production 4 months prior to Cylon attack.

Gunstar Jupiter The Gunstar Jupiter was the pride of the Colonial Fleet. With 30 Mass Driver Batteries as well as Dual Heavy Bow Cannons, these ships were more than a match for Cylon basestars. With no fighter complement, her flight pods were replaced with gun-pods, mounted full of Mass Driver Batteries on the outside and ammunition on the inside. The whole ship is fully armored, able to withstand multiple nuclear detonations without any visible drop in performance. However, the extra armor and ammunition banks slows the ship considerably. Maneuverability is also weak as the few RCS thrusters are strained when turning the giant craft. Although the six ships in the fleet were knocked out by the Cylon virus, the Basestars still struggled to penetrate the ship's armor. Not wanting to waste their resources on these tough nuts, the Cylons opted to board the ship and kill the crew instead of destroying them externally. Eventually, five of the ships were sent to their grave as the Cylons plunged them into Virgon's sun, and the flagship, Jupiter, was left orbiting the already irradiated planet.

Tara class Light Guided Missile Frigate The Tara class was designed 5 years prior to the breakout of the first Cylon War. Built by the greatest minds of Saggitaron, she was designed to jump in, launch her entire salvo of guided missiles and rockets and jump out hit and run tactics. With the breakout of the war, the 43-strong ships of the class formed the backbone of a Battlestar Group's long-range offensive punch, most famously, the Slava, herself damaged by Cylon fire, manage to disable a Cylon basestar, giving the Battlestar Jovia time to recover it's fighters and jump out.

Typical Loadout: 2x9 Forward Missile Launchers, capable of carrying: 52 Streaker AntiShip missiles, 2 Spaceborne Tactical Nuclear Weapons. 3x4 VLS silos, capable of firing: 40 Stammer Antifighter rockets, 32 Slasher Anitifgher Missiles.

Europa class Gunship Designed to escort Battlestars and convoys, the Europa-class of Gunboats were put into service later during the war. The ships were designed to fit into the launch bays of a Battlestar, giving birth to the famous tactic of split-bluff. A Galactica-class Battlestar could easily hide 6 of these vessels in her flight pods, and during offensives, could easily deploy them for extra gunnery support. The gunships also had retractable wings, giving them the ability to enter a planets atmosphere and let loose barrage after barrage of precision missiles.

Battlestar Armageddon Battlestar Armaggedon,BSG-42,was the flagship of the 42nd Battlestar Group, in orbit over Picon. One of the first of the new postwar Battlestars (Unity-class Battlestar), she was more advanced than the wartime Galactica and Columbia-class Battlestars. Her systems and avionics were improved from her predecessor, the Galactica-class, and forming a basis for the later Mercury-class. All ships of her class were lost during the Second Cylon War.

Carrier Nathalia With the cylon war draining a lot of colonial resources, the Nathalia class carrier was pressed into service, deployed for jobs where Close-Air/Space-Support was needed, but not a full scale Lightstar or Battlestar. The Nathalia was developed after it's predecessor, the Nhelena, which was used effectively as jeep carriers during the First Cylon War. About 20 of these vessels were produced, becoming the mainstay of the Colonial Peacekeeping Forces. The Nathalia was not armed, except a few antistarfighter turrets for defense. Her main strength lies in her Vipers. Vipers are launched via the side tubes, and land from the top/bottom. Damaged or stricken fighters may be recovered by the vessels' dual grappling hook launchers.

Cruiser Gabel, CG-57 Designed as the latest Generation of Warships, the Gabel-class Heavy Guided Missile Cruiser combined the firepower of a Lightstar with the agility and manoverbility of a small destroyer. Able to survive most engagements, these new warships were capable of providing a Battlestar Group with heavy guns and missile support. Her advantage over traditional Colonial Gunships were that she was capable of carrying the new Breaker-J-3 Heavy AntiShip Missile, capable of carrying up to a 15 kiloton nuclear warhead. All ships of the class were presumed lost during the Second Cylon War.

Destroyer Chandra DD-12 The workhorse of a Battlestar fleet, the Chandra class was designed to provide a fast attack ship for a Battlestar Group, as well as to act as an additional gun platform. The Chandra was built after the war, and was designed to carry the newer Ryker AntiShip Missiles. Her gun armament was ferocious, sometimes even being classified as a light cruiser. She, like her predecessor, the Newita, was Atmospheric capable for short period of time Eventually, some 56 ships were built with more in order. All ships were presumed lost during the second war.

Lightstar Atari

Gunship Ceres GBS-95 The Gunship Ceres was designed to replace the aging Europa-class Gunships that were used during the second Cylon War. Having twice the firepower of it's predecessor, it is filed under the "Heavy Gunship" category, but does not have the displacement to be classified under the "Light Destroyer" Category. Armed to the teeth with a combination of diffrent caliber guns, these gunships were designed with the same purpose of their predecessors-to escort bigger ships and take part in intra-atmospheric combat. 56 ships were built and 12 more were ordered. All were PRESUMED to be destroyed during the cylon holocaust.

Battlestar Charybdis, BSG-71 After the cylon war, the Charybdis was drafted to be the next fleet flagship, replacing the aging Galactica-class Battlestars. After being replaced by the Atlantia as the fleet's flagship, it went off to serve the colonial fleet as a heavy frontline warship, alongside it's cousins, the Battlestar Armageddon and the Battlestar Mercury.

Battlestar Yalinakani BSG-88 The Battlestar Yalinakani was the latest in Colonial Light Battlestar Design. Built as a counterpart to the Valkyerie class Light Battlestars, these vessels had modern systems as well as retro design fetures. Lightly armed, this ships relyed mostly on their fighter wing for protection as well as offense.

Lightstar Enterprise With the sucess of the Wyvern-class Cruisers, engineers decided to slap on two flight pods and additional batteries. The result was a very capable Lightstar, able to match it's counterpart, the Atari in capabilities and performance. Three ships of the class survived the Cylon attack, two went down fighting. The last, Lightstar Enterprise, joined it's counterpart, the Lightstar Atari and two destroyers against a Cylon fleet. Both Lightstars were disabled, but not destroyed, and eventually saved by the Battlestar Phoenix.

Cruiser Wyvern, CG-51 Deployed as a counterpart to the Gabel-class Cruisers, the Wyvern carried heavy firepower into the battlefield as opposed to the Gabel class. One important fact of this vessel is that it carries a heavy missile loadout, capable of knocking out fighters or enemy capital vessels from a long range.

Viper Mk.V Years after the Cylon War, Colonial Fleet Command wanted a new Viper which could be constructed out of spare parts or reconfigured from older Viper models. The answer was the Viper Mk.V, a sleek, agile vehicle designed to engage enemy space superority fighters in any dogfight. Built only using the same parts with the older Viper Mk.IIs, these fighters were easily produced using old war surpluses. Twenty prototype fighters were stowed on board the Battlestar Cyclops, an old battlestar from the war which was converted as an experimental platform. Unfortunately, among the conversions was the FTL drive. The drive was not accurately configured with the Battlestar's new mass and structure, accidentally jumping the ship away to an unkown location, never to be heard of again. All prototypes and blueprints were lost in the accident. As a tribute to those who lost their lives in the accident, the Viper Mk.V was never reinvented, allowing the Mk.IV to be replaced by the newer Viper Mk.VI which served the fleet for years to come. After the Cylon Holoucaust, the Battlestar Phoenix stumbled accross the Cyclops' wreckage, half buried in an asteroid field around a small planetary system. It removed the 20 Viper Mk.V prototypes as well as the blueprints, and instantly began modification of it's own Viper Mk.IIs. Given the nickname "Firebirds" by the pilots for their breakneck speeds and awesome manuvebility, they wer more than a match for the most experienced cylon raiders. The first few Firebirds were given to the 91st Attack Squadron "Tripods". Eventually, the first full Viper Mk.V Squadron was formed, the 105th "Firebirds" Attack Squadron.

Lowbow Class Scoutstar The Lowbow is a Scoutstar intended for recon or advanced scouting that may require something a bit tougher than a raptor. Scoutstars usually jump into the area a considerable height above the area they are intended to gather information on and use the powerful ventral sensor array to scan the whole area before moving in for closer recon. They have no fighters however they make up for this by being a great deal faster than a Battlestar and by having 10 ventrally mounted railguns to protect its ventral sensor array which is incredibly powerful. This particular class of Scoutstar was refitted to include another 2 dorsal mounted rail guns bringing to total to 6 after many were ambushed from above after jumping in over the area of recon only to have enemies appear from above or behind and destroy them.

Cylon Basestar An older model, intermediate to the current "star" and the original double disk. Inspired by some of the concept art for the various series.

Light Basestar

Gun Basestar Designed to slug it out with the Colonial fleet if the Cylon's failed to sabotage their computers, this Basestar is equipped with a massive arsenal of 96 triple-barreled heavy flak batteries, 32 twin-barreled anti ship turrets, and a pair of massive "Annihilator" rail guns hard-mounted along the Y-axis. The weapons are designed to be modular and can be replaced with cargo containers, converting the ship from combat to supply use once the main fighting is over. It also carriers a compliment of Raiders and missiles.

Battlestar Rodney Designed as a smaller version of the Galatica type Battlestar, and still sporting the same number of Vipers, however after the prototype Rodney was built it was found that she was lacking some of the much needed Firepower to take out Cylon Basestars of the First Cylon war, however, 3 were built and BSG 20, 50 and 72 were equipped with them.

Battlestar Agamemnon Owed to the problems of the Rodney, a supporting Battlestar was designed, the Agamemnon, she was designed to sport mostly anti-Ship weaponary, rather than Vipers, and were put into Service along side the Rodney Class.

Colonial War and Cylon War I Cruisers (1 & 2) Originally only the Light Cruisers and Battle Cruisers were designed as a cheaper alternate to having Battlestars, but when the Cylon war broke out, other designs appeared, only the Light Carrier and Missile Cruiser were built.

Colonial War and Cylon War I Frigates During the Colonial Wars, the need for the less advanced colonies need for vessels spawned a mass of these small vessels, some of the more advanced colonies only had the Frigate base. However, after the outbreak of the First Cylon War, the Frigates were put into action by all sides owed to the fast build time and cheap costs in their construction.

Colonial Corvette During the time of the great exodus from Kobol, the need for a very cheap and small ship was found, and the first designs of the Corvettes were planned. After the colonisation of the 12 colonies, a series of Corvettes were designed by each colony, all slightly different from each other, and were used mainly as planetry defence during the Colonial Wars. However, after the treaty was signed a series of "Friendship Plans" were done for various class of ships, this included the Galactica Type Battlestar and the Zinnia Corvette.

Construction Ship One ship design that was "shared" in a way was the old Construction ship, it was based off the Cargo ships of the wealthier colonies, its main job was to carry a lot of supplies to the site and build defence turrets and space stations.

Battlestar London The London was designed during the first year of the Cylon war, but was left for the need to get more smaller designs done and out to get more ships to battle the Cylons. However, After the Ares was made, the design team went back and edited her, making the London look more like the Ares. Given a large amount of weaponary as well as facilities to make more fighters when she has the materials to so, she was classed as a near impossible design, however, Capriacan Fleet yard decided to make at least one. One was built, and problems with her construction and badly designed parts were noted and improved on when the Mercury class was designed later on. As that she was finished only 8 yrs after the Cylon war, she was religated to mundaine duties that normal Battlestars do normally. At the time of the Cylon Holocaust, she was noted to be with BSG 50 at Gemenon, fate unknown .

Nelson Class A submitted Design for the Rodney was the Nelson class Battlestar, she was based on pre-Colonial unificaton designs and had a good frame. However, a fault was found which ment that her pods would not retract properally and the designer a Mr B. Tard refused to have her with static pods, so she was never built and the Rodney went ahead.

Unicorn Class Assault ship One idea that came to a practical test was a modified LPD. After elongating the ship's middle section, two widened Titan class flight pods were added to her along with supports. The Unicorn did have some advantages of the current Cruiser framed CVE, notably the standard flight pods, which allowed for easier and quicker recovery of Vipers, both damaged and fully working. After some discussion and practical use she was classified as a CVE and another one was build called the Perseus, these worked quite well in the given role, due to their small size and large openings for the flight pods. Some time Later she was reclassified as a CVL and the older Cruiser framed CVL's were decomissioned after an accident that claimed the lives of 5 pilots due to a damaged Viper crash landing into the wrong bay. The Unicorn later became a training ship after the war with the Cylons ended, mostly because of her use of Standard pods while all other CVE's and CVL's were retired. The other variant which did not get off the drawing board was the single flight pod on top, this was not used because of the lack of guns now on the frame.

Portsmouth Class Station The Atlantas Class Battlestars Bouvet and Courbet were heavily damaged, and were towed back to Gemenon where they were combined to become the Portsmouth defence station and had new large KEW's added to the top, as well as a DRADIS dome and some extra nuclear missiles. The Station was a good compromise due to the damage, and that Gemenon did not have much in the way of defence after heavy battles. After the Cylon war Finished the station was given a secondary role of training pilots, she was one of the first places equipped with the new Wolf Mk I large space Fighters just before the Clyon holocaust.

Assaultstar Phalanx As older Battlestars were replaced by newer model, several were converted into assault craft for Marine strike groups. Most of the Viper launch tubes were removed to make room for landing craft and supplies, and an additional launch bay was added ventrally. Armor was increased, partly to compensate for the lack of fighters and several weapons mounts. Minor corrections made by Raygun to allign the side and top views.

Brenik, Tyche Class Escort The Tyche-Class Escort was a pre-Cylon war Corvette design used mainly for convoy escort duties. It carried no fighters, and was armed with the standard point-defense batteries and a pair of dual-purpose gun turrets which could fire both flak shells for anti-fighter work and armor-piercing shells for fighting ships. It carried a crew of around 100, kept low by using networked computers. Once the Cylons started using their EW attacks, the computer systems were refitted and the crew complement increased to 150, resulting in severe overcrowding. Surviving ships were decommissioned immediately after the war. The most infamous ship of the class was the Brenik, which, early in the second year of the war, was the first Colonial ship crippled by Cylon EW attacks. A bloody boarding action resulted in which most of the crew was killed defending the ships magazines against the invading Centurions. The ship was scrapped after the rescue of the survivors.

Lares Class Escorts The Lares-class Escort was designed to replace the pre-war Tyches which had proved very vulnerable to Cylon attack. Larger, more heavily armed and longer range, they had a much higher crew requirement (250-300) due to the elimination of much of the Tyche's automation. Designed for convoy escort rather than fleet actions, they mounted 10 dual-purpose gun turrets of the same design as the Tyche - giving them a heavy punch against Cylon raiders and light attack ships, but lacking firepower which could penetrate the heavier armor of a Basestar. The short-lived Brutus Class (Of which the Scipio is pictured on the right) removed some of the anti-fighter weapons in favor of a pair of heavy turrets, but this reduced its ability to defend against fighters while not giving it enough firepower to engage full sized warships.

Castor Class Escort The Castor-class Escort Leader was introduced late in the Cylon war to act as a squadron leader for Lares-class escorts, in an effort to free up the Adrasteia-class Fleet Escorts for fleet duties. Originally intended for mass production in a similar scheme as the Lares, fears of losing the Adrasteia's fighter carrying abilities and heavy armament (both stemming from fears of a large-scale Cylon attack on supply lines) resulted in design requirements spiralling out of control, resulting in a larger and far more expensive design than originally conceived. Only 6 of the projected 20 were eventually constructed.

PsyckoSama

Escort Adrasteia While the large and powerful Battlestars are the pride of the Colonial fleet, the Escorts are the unsung workhorses. For every Battlestar gloriously striding though the space lanes, exemplifying Colonial might and pride, you'll likely find a half dozen escorts obediently flying in formation covering her flanks, and on top of that there's probably another half dozen off doing all the minor jobs that would be considered undignified for a Battlestar. Convoy escort, pirate hunting, low value patrol, Battlestar group support… these are all the duties of the Colonial Escort. Compared to a Battlestar, they're smaller, weaker, with less operational endurance. On the flip side, they're faster, more agile, and much cheaper to build and operate. Escorts are commonly commanded by Colonels, and their crews often affectionately refer to them as "Baby Battlestars". Because of their smaller size the crews, which are rarely higher than 500 crewmen and officers, are often more tightly knit than the crews of the larger and more powerful Battlestars. On the flip side, because of their lack of prestige, escorts, especially those on long duration missions, used to be sometimes seen as good dumping points for wash outs and dead end officers. This practice, while no longer common, lead to many problems, including low moral, low efficiency, or in the worst cases, mutiny and piracy. The ship has 72 point defense mounts, 8 heavy turrets, and can carry as many as 20 vipers along with four Raptors, and a pair of heavy shuttles.

Battlestar Constellation Another take on the original Gaalctica, "retextured" for the new universe. Different main turret arrangement as well as added point defense guns and thrusters.

Viper MkIII A "retexture" of the Scarlet Viper intended to represent an upgrade to existing MkI's to keep them comperable to the MkII.

Viper MkIV Another "retexture" of the MkIV, this time in the same scheme as the MkVII.

Various 'retextures" of the Buck Rodgers fighters for the New Galactica universe The Cobra Mk I was built well before the Cylon War and the few remaining were rushed into service during the war. The Mk II was a more recent version still in use by many local defense forces, as was the Mk III which had better atmospheric capabiities. The Mk IV Elint platform was originally unarmed, but later had optional gun pods added as the Mk IVB.

Scorpion During the early part of the war with the Cylons, the Scorpion, was the space superiority fighter of choice for the Colonial Military. It was a significant improvement over the pre-war models and was more than a match for the Cylon fighters at the time. Most Colonial pilots today have only read about these fighters though several exist in private collections and are even still flown in some of the more obscure territories. This fighter belonged to Capt. Maximilian "Sharpshooter" Ohta from 245th Fighter Squadron, Battlestar Columbia. During one mission, Captain Ohta shot down nine enemy fighters, setting a single mission dogfight combat record for the Colonial Fleet. Note: This design was also seen in the original series as an ancestor to the Viper.

Alpha & Beta battlestars History: At 1.2km long both Alpha and Beta are considerably smaller and have less mass than other battlestars, making them faster and more manoverable. Both are special weapons prototypes, designed to house the pinical of Colonial technology onbord, and are the forerunners for the next generation of battlestar.

ALPHA: A pocket Battlestar devoted to war, with it's 44 advanced Kew’s and 20 missile launchers, the Alpha is a match for any adversary. A warmonger’s dream, for the Alpha class is fitted with the latest in technological marvels, whilst relying on the tried and tested method of pummelling the enemy to death with multiple Kew salvoes.

BETA: Developed in the last years before the nuclear holocaust, the Beta class represented the pinnacle of Colonial technology combining; speed, manovribility, missiles and superior Kew's, into an effective predator. While lacking a large fighter ability like the Mercury class, Beta makes up for it with its 28 Kew’s and 72 missile ports (24 top & bottom, 12 each side). This makes the Beta class battlestar fine adition to any Colonial ground campaign.

Battlestar Achilles The Achillies was designed to remove entrenched enemy units and structures using it's missile bays and additional 8 KEW's(rather than the normal 16 KEW's ). Also instead of having Viper's, the Achillies is complimented with squadron's of Bombers.

Tethion Class Carrier The Tethion was the first of the new assault carrier classes to be manufactured (being the first it bears the name of it's class) and is designed to be able to arrive in battle, unload it's fighters and wait arround acting as a tender for any in need of repairs or refueling as opposed to having to wait outside the battle area in fear for it's life as many carriers do. The idea behind the Tethion class was to bring carriers closer to the battle by increasing their offensive ability but without sacrificing fighter space. The broadside railguns are perfect for keeping basestars at a safe enough distance for fighters to be able to reboard without getting taken appart on the way in. However the small compliment of AA-guns leave the carrier vulnerable to fighter/bomber attacks.
