Raptor is equivalent to the SBD Dauntless already a scout dive bomber

but still way cool...

actually it sort of reminds me more of the B-25J Mitchell in its gunship incarnation...

the J model carried a 75mm and 12 (twelve) .50 caliber machineguns in a "solid" gun bearing nose installation ( plus 6 .50 cal in defensive positions and turrets) it was particularly used to attack J apanese shipping and was fearsome at it....

Raptor is pretty similiar to the Helldiver and or Avenger these planes were among the first fitted for AEW/EW and carrier deployed, didnt the French continue to use AEW Avengers until the early 1970's or some very late date...gotta go look now...curiosity

cool equivalent, now I need one for the campaign game and some (oddball-different) mini's to represent it...

Whadda ya hear?

I never really saw the Raptor as anything but a glorified Captains Gig and Motor Launch with reccy ability and too many bolt on options

the Raptor is a good multi-role jack of all trades- master of none, Glorified captains gig LOL :thumbsup but... doing internal anti-fighter missile picket duty isnt something most captains gigs can do and performing EW/tanker etc etc- oh jeez your right, is there anything you cant bolt on???? come to think of it! :damnfunny

still its better than the shuttle for every role except transport and better than the Viper at anything but space superiority...

it fills its niche...and just about any other it can be shoe-horned into...

whadda ya hear?

The idea with this thing was to fill the middle ground between the Megaera class Patrol Boat, and the Reaper series of antiship bombers. Something that could provide heavy gun firepower without the added bulk of something much larger. Rather than the Canis, which was more of a Cutter, the Wolverine is meant to be a frontal-attack gunship.

Whereas the Reaper has two 40mm cannons for additional punch during strafing runs of smaller Cylon warships and taking out small external structures on Basestars, the Wolverine has much heavier armament designed to actually destroy Cylon Escorts and deal a serious amount of harm to the exposed missile launchers on Basestars.

To overcomplicate a simple matter, the Wolverine has all the features of a Reaper plus more, but fewer features than a full-on Escort or Patrol Boat.

While this thread is now active again, I am thinking of doing an earlier verion of the Wolverine. So, sometime in the future, the version we're seeing now will become Wolverine Mark II. Wolverine Mark I will be a First Cylon War design, more akin to the Viper Mark II.

Well, it was in correct scale to everything except the Canis. When I made the thing I was thinking sideways when it came to using parts. I might try my hand at a different or more accurate scale, but that will take a long time.

Get your creativity back?!?!

I wasn't aware you could misplace that, so that means it had to have been hijacked...isn't that, well, painful?

Lbraden I know what you mean I have been in a slump for creativity in the campaign since BSG ended, feeling a bit better since I realized I dont care what happened in their "canon" universe, they limited themselves so much...

I couldnt Paint, kitbash-model, or stat out new ships or work on the rules at all...

it'll pass LBraden your work is too good to go away...

whadda ya hear?

I can't help but think that part of the post show malaise is in part do to out long expected final battle, where the Galactica and her hardened crew throw themselves into the teeth of the Cylons and cut a clear cut victory over their enemies. You know, the fight that never materialized. Hell, even at the end it was basically a matter of compromise, and the neo-skinjobs inability to compromise that removed one of the guys we sort of wanted final justice for, Clavil. It all gets compounded by our desperate need to see the Earth as a bastion for the colonials, a well prepared, well armed bastion, and then getting suckered by a hopeless AND fake earth, and then a somewhat anti climactic "real" earth. Generates a pretty high "meh" factor in many people really. It WAS a good show, and even with the ending being, well, not what we foresaw, or hoped for, it was still a good run. But really, tens of billions of humans get wiped out, and were stuck with the colonials settling in with proto man? Meh indeed!
Oh, that and Kara and Duella getting either shafted or ghosted, double meh!

Aye Enterprise ended suctacularly, lame in ways far too numerous to enumerate on...I am waiting for the new movie...and will judge it after I watch it...I am as always cynical and skeptical...but even the worst sci-fi is better than the best chick-flick...

BSG was indeed a great show and had a good run...I think probably the best Sci-fi show yet done...but for all that mighty praise its got plenty of faults, holes and problems...the owners are particularly unhelpful to the fans, the absolute vacumn of official printed materials and other merchandise is so dimwitted as to defy comprehension...

other worthy mentions: Roughnecks Starship Troopers probably my second favourite, all the treks except Whyager as well,

Meh factor was huge for the ending...never really liked Starbuck that much, she was OK, but Dualla was cool and she got robbed, dont buy those angel angle's too well either...I guess I could have used more technobabble and less religion...Tigh and Adama were my favourite characters and it really underwhelmed me when Tigh was a Final-5, craptacular, also Ellen in all ways is a pain in the fundament, Cavil wasteing himself sucked too, I would have snapped Tory's silly neck as well though... :thumbsup :damnfunny

yes I liked the final battle...sort of...but it could have been much more...

Earth as a well prepared armed bastion, I think you just got it right in one try.... say our earth about 100 or so years from now with tech just a bit less than the colonies but lots of it and probably 2 strong factions on earth already vying for power, just waiting for the word, when along comes G and RTF followed by the Cylons hot on their trail...the humies gotta get organized and on the same side fast and the Cylons are now the ones fighting at a disadvantage so far from their logistics-base and outnumbered by fresh new aggressive enemies as well as the old enemies they still havent been able to wipe-out....we might even have colonies of our own...

whadda ya hear?

cally, in my opinion, was just as badly robbed as dualla.

she, for all her faults, did NOT deserve to be spaced by the *****, and in my opinion, chief tyrol was justified in killing her(whats her face, the one who spaced cally) as a result.
