Do the pods fold under the ship. if so, that is great thinking

Photobucket converted it, only one choice when uploaded and that saved all image and video types.

I can see why you call it a Carrier rather than a Battlstar

not the rendering, the design,

pulling up fom a bad landing attempt, a pilot crosses the hull of the entire ship and enters the flight path of any other pilot doing the same from the other bay...so linear bay arrangement makes more sense...

remember criticism is the mildest form of compliment, it isnt your art ( I cant even draw one)

still it is kinda interesting...like the Ise class...BBCV from IJN in ww2

This is an interesting design concept.

Based on the flak defense cruiser, right?

Myrm's gotta point about the traffic jams, tho.

Something else to worry about is pesky Cylon kamikaze runs.

I had a crazy brain-fart about this, tho.

Looks like you got the pods attached to the sides of the ship.

Well, instead of that, how about one pod slung underneath that
can swing out to either side?

Also, put a bunch of smaller KEW's on her dorsal.

This way, the pods' entryway can be protected from attack
during battle and the pod itself can be oriented to swing
AWAY from the bulk of the enemy during combat landings.

Maybe also some extra RCS thrusters to increase maneuverability.

Since this is more of a support vessel than ship of the line,
big giant cannons won't necessarily be useful, as she won't
likely survive a direct engagement with a baseship, but
greater numbers of smaller KEW's will enable her to maintain
a wall o' death and pain enemy fighters must traverse in order to
get at her flight deck.

Ooo, I'm really staring to want this in my fanfic!

D'you mind if I take a crack at it?

I'd hat to try and land hands-on approach while she is a flank speed.

Go for it. :thumbsup

And I see the point about the flight patterns

I suppose that the way around that is that starboard overflights go over and port go under. Its a matter of command and training but it does nicely illustrate an advantage to the battlestar parallel pod design.

a ship like that would probably have the auto landing system so no hands-on landings would be needed.

looks good lim :thumbsup always like your artwork

and I dont hate the ship at all, I like it, I just illustrate the point of how Battlestars are an evolvement of Carriers built to fight the whole battle better than carriers and they arent the same type of ship...seeing carriers that are different and somewhat less advanced than a Battlestar makes you appreciate the evolvement and added capabilities a Battlestar posseses

in our campaign OOB/MTOE a Battlestar is:

tougher, more armed and armoured than a Carrier, but with the airwing to defend it or press attacks home, also heavily gun armed and nuclear missile equipped to kill enemy capital ships, and dirtside strategic targets plus carrying at least some marines and the capability to deploy them...

so its not a Carrier or a Gunstar or a Strikestar or an Assaultstar but a bit of each...

this has worked out well for us to differentiate the ship types and keep the miniature's organized along type/class lines as well...it got bewildering after a while with so many available... :damnfunny

Whadda Ya Hear?

Oh Aye, full of agreement here too. JLDoggs version is a nicely clear example of that. Nicely done, mate!
