Thanks. I didn't consider the hull as "pods" on Loki and when you said it was a replacement I didn't think you meant for such an old ship.
Well I couldn't really think of a proper name for them, and "pod" was the first thing to come to mind :P

By replacement I meant that it was intended for the same role, not necessarily that it would be the direct successor. I've not really settled on whether there would be an intermediate class or not.

Ah, ok. That makes more sense, now. I know the designers and CGI team put a lot of effort into Loki, but it just looks...well, it looks pretty much like an armed merchant ship. But that's a gripe for another thread!

Yeah, I think it looks awesome :)

Like I said I'm just going to assume that "Cruiser" is roughly equivalent to "Logistics Vessel" in Colonial usage.

One thing I do like about the Ymir class is that it could work as a Militiastar if needed

A Militiastar is meant to basically be a vessel commonly used outside of combat scenarios like civilian ships, non-combat Military ship, [disarmed] mothballed vessels and decommissioned hulks, that are armed and deployed into combat or support scenarios to allow for less Colonial Fleet Warships to perform menial tasks like Convoy Escort or Pirate hunting. They are typically crewed by fleet reservists, the colonial militia, or in some cases colonial volunteers.

They operate like the Auxiliary Cruiser and Armed Merchant Vessels of the Second World War
