Modified from a Canis's picture in various ways.

I call it the Shark, it's a lot shorter than the original.
This uses a lot of the same parts as the Phoenix series of VTOLs so it was the logical next step after I did those in my style. The angle of the engine pods and the vents that pop open for hover stem from the original work I did on the Phoenix's as with both designs if you turn them 90 degrees the exhausts end up extremely close to the ground, which looked dangerous to me.

Thought I better show you the Phoenix's, or as I call them Hawks.

The totally Civilian model Hawk.

and the Military version, the Nighthawk. (shown in Army colours)

Oh and sharing the same engines,
Image
a Mosquito, redubbed as an Orion, sporting an AWACs dish.

Nice VTOL ships. I had to explain to my husband that these aren't real military designs, but from a tv show called Battlestar Galactica. Count it as a win, 50Stone! :D

I like the AWAC Mosquito.

Thanks, I mean to delete the windows to be honest, and possibly even the sliding side door, both waste internal space. Also worth noting is that the AWAC has a belly bulge for a surface scanning Dradis and originally had a type of FLIR pod which didn't fit with the AWAC role.

Just for idea fodder, this is the Mongoose, which also uses parts from the Phoenix.

That is the design I based mine from, although the pic I had was a modification down by Wolf 6.0 called the Firehawk.

I shortened it quite a bit by taking out a section each from the tail, mid and nose, took off the tube bulges after to swap round the tricycle gear to a tail dragger and voila.

Very cool. I don't think the Phoenix & Mongoose would be bothered by having the exhaust near the ground. Its no different from any other VTOL like a Harrier or F-35. The engines need to be able to rotate to 90° in order for it to land vertically.

The under wing stores loaded to the Shark are a double pack of rocket pods on the outboard stations and and a triple set of Maverick styled air to ground missiles on the inboard stations of the same type as the two missiles on the forward sponsons. I have four of five missiles I use these days in both atmospheric and space variants, I'll post them up soon.

If you look there are vents open on the angled pods, I figure the main exhausts are shut at least partially and the flow is redirected, like jet engine thrust reversers to sill permit vertical take offs and landings, the aircraft can also just operate like a regular aircraft if it wants.

See, why couldn't THAT mongoose have been in the halo games instead of the gunless quad bike?

I think Canis and I would be open to favorable licensing arrangements...

@50Stone
Do you have front, rear and bottom views of these???
If so, would you mind if I (and a designer that I work with) make them into paper models?
