I'll be interested in seeing that one, Zag.

Got more work done on the Yukikaze, including a couple small details around the dorsal turret.

I also started on another Yamato insignia, this time the UN one. I'm planning on using it in the background of the Yukikaze profile. It's not done yet, I still need to do the stems of the wreathe and also add the continents to the polar projection. I'm uploading, as usual, a screencap showing it in use as well.

Interesting.

I use to do some work making top views of Yamato ships for the game system with only the side and front profiles to work with. Some came out alright, others were bad. A few I had models to help with details, or sometimes 3/4 views. Other times I had to guess. Mostly Galman and some Bolar stuff.

That's how I started drawing years ago, doing top views of Battlestar Galactica ships to use as miniatures for a D20 conversion myself and a couple other people were writing. Eventually it turned into side views and grew more and more detailed before turning into proper profiles.

After I do the Yukikaze, I'd like to go back and do some of the other pre-Yamato UNCF ships, like the Kirishima, the Murasame, and the fighters.

It's a literal translation, they're using nautical terminology in the original Japanese. In this case, coast is used instead of either the surface of the planet or orbit around it.

I was in the mood for sketching earlier and got the basic shapes of the Type 100 Scout Plane (Uzume) mocked up.

Thanks, Ithekro. I'll work on it more when I get the latest two Great Mechanics magazines. They're on their way currently.

Got started on the Cosmo Navy-issued playing cards from episode 7. Here's the completed background/compass rose.

I've totally fallen in love with the Isokaze class destroyer too. When I first saw it, I coildn't help but notice how sleek it was, but also oldschool. The cockpit really reminds me of an old Japanese bomber or seaplane.

I started with a tiny, basic side view and havr been working from there, manually adding in, at least for now, little bits and pieces of detail that it had in the show. I knew that if I didn't limit myself for now, I would never get past the lineart stage.
