In your photobucket gallery, there is a link under each image that says "IMG Thumb". That's the one you want to copy here.

One of the first insignia I did for my Viper project was the deceivingly-simple Mk II nameplate that goes under the canopy.

My first attempt wasn't that bad, using a font I found on Fontstruct called Husker. However, the lines of the actual symbol are pretty badly off. You can see that in the short diagonals in each corner.

That's always bothered me, but with Galactiguise having put out a limited TTF version of the Spaceage font from Signlab that was used for BSG, I knew I had to update it eventually. Unfortunately that demo font was missing two things I needed, the space character and quotation marks. I finally got around to inserting those myself in a font program for my own use, but then I noticed how wavy everything seemed. Spaceage, it turns out, has these crazy angled ends on the letters. So I loaded up the program again and, as I believe the original staff did, fiddled with each letter and number one by one until I got it where I like it. I also redrew the sign itself and I think I have the angles much more accurate now as well and everything looks even. I kept the same colors as before, but I can adjust them later when I get better information on them.

...and I got a little carried away making nameplates. These are all just Mk IIs too. I haven't started the Mk VII nameplate yet.

A 'little carried away,' eh, Talos? More like really carried away.

Bah. :P

Here's my take on the Mk VII nameplate. It's trimmed down compared to the Mk II. A little shorter and a lot narrower.

http://archive.propworx.com/1002/828 You can see the difference here on this nameplate. It's one of Apollo's Mk VII ones, but made with an untrimmed Mk II template.

Some good stuff in there, captshade. I really need to get back to work on insignia. The most recent things I've done are updated more Mk II Nameplates.

Good eye. Most are, though the Rising Star patch is Air Force, and the Pegasus' pin is Navy

Not sure why Larson used so many blatantly obvious ones.

They probably used them because they were cheap, available, and at the time unless the viewer had actual contact with the unit no one would know they're real. Just like the collar pins were based off the Military Intelligence devices.

Well, only the fleet (silver) ones were "based" off them, as they were modified. The Warrior (gold) ones were actual MI pins (worn upside down.

Recently I finally figured out how to do proper curved text in Photoshop, so I really needed to go back and fix all the BSG patches I had done and replace the distorted and ugly text they already had. I've already replaced them all on my Deviantart page and I'll get around to it in my Photobucket later. These are the ten squadrons from the show, plus the two Weapons School patches, all updated. You can compare them to the other patches earlier in the thread.
