Excellent! I'm intrigued by the Red Aces patch...I wasn't aware they had standard Earth card suites in the Colonies! ;-)

Can I have some feedback on this please?

I'm not happy with the text (slanting). Do you think you could redo it in your vector style Talos?

Shouldn't be too difficult. Are you using Photoshop? I can walk you through doing it yourself if that's the case. The only other thing I would tweak is the missile trail intersecting one of the stars. I would tweak it so it just misses it. I can look at redoing it though, since I'd only have to draw the Raptor in the center and that looks easy.

No, I used MS Paint. I have got GIMP though. It would be awesome if you could! The Raptor bit may even come in handy for future insignia.

Ah, I don't know how to do it in GIMP, I use Photoshop. I'll add it to my list of things to work on though.

Well, the process shouldn't be too dissimilar from Ps, Talos. I'm a longtime user of GIMP, so if you'd like to PM me the walk-through as well, I might be able to adjust it to work for GIMP too. Providing I can find the time to work on it that is.

There isn't much to it, just that I draw the whole thing in paths, so I simply have my text alligned along the bottom curve of the banner and offset it until it's in the center. Previously I did an arc distortion but it was really ugly. If he's drawing it as a raster image in Paint it'll be harder to do, though still workable if he traces the bottom edge with a path and uses that with his text.

It's funny, I used to know GIMP really well since I did everything in it for years, but I barely remember it now.

Forgive my late reply, but I've been sick over the weekend. Which is odd, since I haven't been sick since my early teens.

In any event, I figured it was something to that effect, and it shouldn't be that hard to do it in GIMP as well then. Just to use the paths tool, mainly, and all should be right as rain.

Happens to all of us! I don't know when or if I'll get to it, but I can send you the PSD (which you can open in GIMP) of the Raptors Squadron logo, which is what he used as a base here, if you'd like.

Sure, why not. Might give me a reason to play around in GIMP for awhile. Thank You.

I haven't finished one of these drawings in a while, this one has been mostly finished except for the text. I had tried to find the font last year, but couldn't figure it out. I happened to take a look for it today and realized, after a couple hours of looking, that it was just the title font to the original Star Trek series. It's also used on the Air Rescue wings from the same costume.

Great work!!!
As a fan of classic BSG, I've got to help out and clarify a few things, though.

Battlestar: Galactica:

Ship's Patch
Image

This is not the "ship's patch," it's the Blue Squadron patch. Each battlestar carried four viper squadrons, and this was just one of them--the one we always saw, as Blue Squadron was Adama's strike wing.

Ship's Insignia (Fleet)
Image

This is not a "fleet insignia," it's the Galactica bridge officer insignia.

Battlestar: Pegasus:

Ship's Patch
Image

Same issue as Galactica's Blue Squadron insignia.
Not the "ship patch."

Special- Cain's Medallion
Image

Yes, this is Cain's neck pin--but also known as the Gold Cluster. It should also be all gold. Commander Kronus was presented with one at the ceremony in the episode Take The Celestra.

Points of clarification:

The Galactica and Pegasus seals, are identical to their main Viper squadrons; Blue Squadron (Galactica) and Silver Spar Squadron (Pegasus).

The ship pins, are separated into Fleet (Silver), and Warrior (Gold). Bridge (Core Command) crew, are Fleet crew, and Warriors are not. Think Naval Aircraft Carrier, with Marine pilots. Pin designs seem to be different between ships.

On to more insignia...
