got the idea to post my custom mods from a good friend.

this first one, i was inspired by the manga rurouni kenshien, so i named it rurouni(translated means wanderer).

i like what you've done so far, jsut an armoured version. it looks a little underarmed for its origonal purpose, but I'll be watching! i hope you add story too! :D

this fast became one of my favorite projects, and would not have been possible if you hadnt released the original.
speaking of which, would you have a side view of the origional prototype lightstar?

heres the tech specs for her:

Hermes Class Lightstar Sabre
Prototype advanced systems testbed warship.

Crew: 1100 Officers and enlisted personel (Max)

Weapons systems:

2 x 116 General purpose missile tubes, mounted dorsally and ventrally.

20 x MK I Anti-Ship KEW's
8 x each dorsal and ventral
4 x ventral forward bow
4 x Forward Fixed heavy KEW

226 x MK III Anti-Fighter Defense turrets
120 x Dorsal
106 x Ventral

10 x multi purpose vertical launch tubes with 3 x anti-ship missiles each.

Propulsion: 8 x main drive units
3 x each dorsal and ventral
2 x ship midline
Total sublight speed: 0.90 sublight

Misc:
EWS and ECM Combo Suite which together essentially render this ship invisible to dradis, and the stealth capabilities of a Stealth Star. Those abilities, and her modest but impressive weapons loadout makes this ship in simple terms, a sucker punch ship.

Jump Drive:
Celestus class jump engine system using a field modified Olympus class engine.
JUMP RANGE: 140 Stellar Units (S.U.)

Endurance: 4 years

Other features:
First ship to receive Re-enforced lamenated armor.
First ship to receive compartmentalizable Computer network.
First ship to receive Dopplar Dradis
First ship to recieve HKEW system

Other noteworthy considerations:
First Colonial ship to make a 140 S.U. jump to and from scorpian shipyards.
First ship to successfully test fire what was at the time a prototype Heavy KEW (HKEW) system
First ship to successfully fire all 4 HKEW's simultaneusly, in pairs and in sequence.

Secondary vehicles:
32 x MK II Colonial Vipers-Prior complement
32 x MK VII Colonial Vipers-current complement
24 x MK VIII Colonial Vipers(assumes disembarkment of at least 24 vipers to make room)
5 x MK II raptors
5 x MK II Transport shuttles
5 x MK II Raptor Gunships(assumes loss of MK II Raptors)

Historical and biographical notes on Light Battlestar Sabre:

Suffice it to say, the Sabre was built to serve as a testbed for advanced systems and technology.
As such, she was first employed to test the new HKEW system for the mercury class developement Program, becoming the first ship in the fleet to field such powerful guns, which were first employed for asteroid clearance duty, vaporizing several asteroids ranging from neglegable to serious in terms of threat posed to civilian shipping, which were historical firsts.
Later, she would be employed to field and test a multitude of systems for both the Intruder and Nova programs, such as a new networked computer system, the net result of which was a tenfold increase in operating efficiency.
Sabre also received a Dopplar Dradis, and in testing, became the first Colonial ship to navigate a class 1 nebula(the kind you hide supply anchorage's in), as well as the first to successfully track and intercept several missiles using her newly installed Dopplar Dradis, fired at her as she attempted to intercept a group of pirate spacecraft. Later, she would gain a revolutionary FTL jump drive.
This new FTL drive was a vast improvement over the older Persius Class jump engine system. The new drive, because its able to fold space in an entirely different way,resulting in an effective range almost three times as long as the Mercury class Battlestars that were in service, however, in the case of the Sabre, her range turned out to be six times the range of the typical mercury class, this is due to the fact that her mass is less than that of the nova class. Suddenly it seemed, the Sabre had the potential to be the beginnings of a new type of ship. Then the Fleet admiralty decided to greenlight testing of a new type of armor. This armor, known only as reenforced Lamanated armor, soon ultimately proved to be worth the trouble that wound up being encountered. This armor had never been produced on such a large scale, nor had it ever been used to armor a warship the size of Sabre. Once it was installed, the first test the ship underwent, was, naturally, the most dangerous, a salvo burst from an HKEW cannon. The armor stood up to the massive force fired at it quite easily.

Sabre's last operational test was to have been a long range test jump, which she completed, but this was not to be her final mission.
On the 3rd of july, 2004, the Atlantis stopped briefly at the halcyon shipyards on her way back in system, in a desperate attempt to head off a cylon attack, her commander, General John Conners, saw the ship moored next to a Minotaur class Battlestar, recognizing its potential, the ship was swiftly put underway.
Later, she would play an instrumental role in defending several civilian ships that had fled into the Halcyon nebula, in search of refuge from the cylons.
It was decided, 4 months after the initial flight from the colonies, to arm Sabre with the new MK VIII Beta model Vipers.
While her launch systems were not designed to accomodate the MK VIII, she can nevertheless handle slowspeed launches. Modifications are at present, complete on only 4 of her sixteen launch tubes.
Her recovery system, needs no modifications.

The current assignment of the Light Battlestar Sabre is as a quick reaction response vessel, as well as serving as a long range reconnassince and intereption ship for Atlantis Battlegroup.

Revision history:
v1.0 initial draft release with additional reference material taken from the battlestar prometheus fanfic, at my nieces suggestion(I should seriously consider paying her to do fact checking and research for me, lol) as well as my own Intruder specs, and thanks to itsomi for the orginal file that led to this.

just got a new turret model, and im planning on updating several of my customs with this new turret model.

got it off the heracles battlecruiser, looks good, fits most warships like a glove, and if you act now, you get a nice bubble canopy, lol.

sorry, no. I didnt actually think out this hermes design spree prior to actually drawing it. i havent done manny side views, only about two or three for the half a dozen or so ships I've drawn, and Hermes isnt one of the lucky ones. :sad:

yes ordinarily it would , but in this case, i left it as is for better visibility, that and the fact that using the same shade of off white for the carpet, just wouldnt look right.
