Here's the Darold and her sisters. The Mirangal may not be 100% accurate as I had to piece her camo together from fan models and the eyeballing from the movie. The amount of aircraft is a guess based on hanger size.

Here's the Gamilas transport seen taking on the freed prisoners in episode 22 of 2199. Not entirely sure about the colors as we've only seen the backside of the ship.

I seem to recall it being a darker green from an earlier episode. I think we see one of these taking away resistance and the like from Gamilas.

Rewatching it I'm chalking it up to it being night time.

I'll edit in the armament and stuff when I have a non-Google translated version of the list.

I'm imagining an edit of the scene where Andromeda shoots through the moon, only replacing the moon with the Death Star.

Andromeda's far more portable anyway.

I'd love to see it!

As some nostalgia, here's the late CanisD's Andromeda, may he rest in peace.

They have sort of fixed the problem of being able to fire a broadside with the aft batteries due to the fins. The fin is a little bit farther back allowing Y turret to be able to fire on the broadside. They still block a small area on both sides, but shouldn't be a large problem that the broadside blocking was, as most instances, if Andromeda needs to fire a broadside, it will need all of its guns.

Between the two drawings you can sort of see where they lengthened the ship in small ways to give it a overall proportionally correct ship while still being 444 meters long rather than 280 meters long over Yamato going from 265 meters long to 333 meters long.

And yet she still has 16 inch guns.

Do want to figure out what her other weapons are (and in some cases, where they are). So far all we've seen is the after shock cannons and the two wave motion guns in spread mode (it seems they can fire in direct mode as well, perhaps even individually, which might be interesting to see. Not quite WMG spam, but close...especially if its a squadron of Andromeda-class ships peppering a fleet of resilient ships with one barrel at a time, after one of them clears out the chaff with the spread effect version of course).

Side note: we still use CanisD's Space Battleship Arizona drawing for the game sheets of the Star Blazers Fleet Battles System game.

Regarding the rear fins...perhaps the two dorsal fins that would block the turret would simply fold down?

I never really figured out why they needed all the struts and fins, though...

I never understood why vessels like the Andromeda had little to no ventral mounted weapons, to me it seems like a glaring weakness in the design and if an enemy forces attacked from underneath than it could very well be game over. Some designs didn't have that issue and while Yamato did have this problem, it would be excused due to it being based off of the Original Yamato.

The newer version for Yamato states that its armor is thickest on the bottom, so attacking there would poor results for the attacker. For Andromeda, that is likely were its shielding is best as what I think are its generators are right there. Add to this Yamato has underside missiles to deal with sudden pests. Andromeda's weapons are unknown as to placement currently.

Also they seem to be able to roll just fine to bring their shock cannons to bear. Yamato even does this while flying into a trap. She's surrounded by Gamilas ships....she just puts all shields ups, going in full throttle, and rolls so she can bring all her weapons to bear on any target. Cleans a reasonable path to Dommel's battleship doing so.
