I wasn't suggesting it'd damage the lug, I was thinking that, as Bipods aren't generally locked in a stowed position, like a bayonet is locked onto the lug usually with twist locks or catches, that the gases escaping outwards would knock the legs off the stowing lug so that they deploy on their own during firing, something that could get in the way or alter the gun's characteristics at the worst time.

Ah, ok. The muzzle blast shouldn't be an issue; we're talking something about 6mm of less, and if it uses a gas piston, any venting should be up and to the sides. If the gas can effect the bipod, then it would also effect the shooter's support hand.

I don't think we're talking about the same location, I'm talking about the muzzle, as in the flash suppressor on the muzzle which vents the final propellent gases and explosive flash out to the sides hitting the feet of the stowed forward bipod and knocking it open/off it's stowage lug that's fitted to the exposed forward barrel.

Not any part of the gas blow back system covered within the foregrip.

Ah! Ok. I understand. I still don't think it will be an issue, especially if it has a properly designed flash suppressor. The A2 used on the M-4 and M-16A2/3/4 only has vents on the top and sides; nothing is vented directly down or in an angle that would impact anything under the barrel. Originally this was to facilitate better concealment when prone, but it has had some good unintended side effects.
