Need some help with a current drawing. I need to take the side view of the front of the Apache (a tug from Allen's 'verse) and create a front view. If anyone can lend a paw, it would be greatly appreciated...I can send you the scraps of what I need.

Thanks!

Sure, send what you have over and I’ll get on to it when I’ve finished your current drawing

Will do! I'll send it in the morning when I'm at my PC.

Thanks!

The Admiralty examined the fleet mix and realized that as the Union grew, there was a need for a dedicated fleet tender. This gave birth to the Porter and Carme classes in the beginning, and later the Chrysothemis and Cybele classes a few years later as the type proved its worth. One thing that these existing classes didn't do, however, was provide dedicated maintenance, rebuild, repair, and fabrication capabilities. They could carry and dispense supplies extremely efficiently, and the all of them had some intrinsic ad hoc repair capabilities, but none really could return a damaged ship to fighting trim.

The Isis class battlestar was chosen to be the foundation for the new class, and while there are elements that are similar between the Isis class and the new Theros class, the similarities mostly stop at the hull. She retained the ventral and head guns, but lost her fighter wing, missile batteries, flank, and dorsal guns. In their stead, and enormous bay was built into the lower hull measuring 1,151 meters long by 1,107 meters wide by 113 meters high. This massive volume contained everything that the Admiralty, and the field forces, wanted in a tender/repair ship; adequate stocks of spares, raw materials, fabrication shops, hangars, and the ability produce what they don't carry in a minimum amount of time.

Beyond the raw budget value that they cost to produce, the ships true value is incalculable because of the capabilities they bring to the field. They never operate alone, often sailing with a gunstar squadron with at least one A-class or Dia class heavy gunstar commanding the detachment.

The first Theros class examples in service showed how useful the ships were and that they truly were worth the budget cubits that the Admiralty had invested in them. However, there were some things that were found to be "good on paper but not good in the field", the biggest of which were the cutaways on the massive flight deck. The intention had been for smaller ships to be able to dock or "raft up", but in practice this was rarely done and if done while underway required a level of skill and coordination that was hard to achieve...outside a simulator using instructors. The Block 2 design extended the flight deck and internal spaces to the edges and the extra mass was offset by improved engines, so other than not being as agile (which was a good joke at the Admiralty card room), the Block 2s had the same overall performance as the Block 1s.

There was one final modification that was done which resulted in the Block 3; a dorsal flight deck was added with the capability to handle smaller capital class ships. This would give the Theros a capability to transport a damaged ship while still tending to larger ships. Its use was realized three two months before the genocide when a combined military and judicial operation captured the base that the Erisian commerce raider Iura Hominis and ultimately helped facilitate the peace talks that happened shortly before the genocide.

and Eiar, the Block 3 that was on hand to recover Iura Hominis, as well as the Marine Ziz landers and some of the civilian ships used in the operation. Note: Despite having Ziz landers on her deck, the Theros class is not an assaultstar.

Thanks! I was trying to push the envelope with the design and even have some other ideas for a Block 4, but I think I'll stop where I'm at! Though...it might nag at me enough that I have to do it, just to complete the line.

Since I mentioned it, my OCD forced me to make it. This is the Block 4 Theros which deepens the central spaces so that it clears the lower engines, then turns it into a lower flight deck. This deck isn't used for UNREP (UNderway REPlenishment) duties, but rather for cargo and stores receiving and organization. Rather than use the main deck or one of the booms that are hidden behind protective panels (yeah, I forgot to add them and this is my retcon!) to accept deliveries and disrupt normal operations, the tasks have been moved to the underdeck for simplicity.

Two additional changes were made to the Block 4s; a fourth engine was added between the lower engines and directly below the top engine, increasing thrust to offset the additional mass that has been added, and a dome was installed under the head for R&R and VIP transport. An extensive shopping promenade as well as specialty shops are present as well as more comfortable hotel style suites for visiting crews or dignitaries.

And I think this pretty much flogs this horse to a grease spot with regards to upgrades and mods!

I was recently asked to repost the size and org charts that I've done for Lady H. To make this viable, I uploaded all the publicly mentioned group org charts and size charts that I've (or CanisD) put together. Other than a few, those with a Z- prefix, none of them have something on them to give a sense of size other than the scale. To help give a sense of scale, simply copy one of the files marked "Z-Trav..." onto the image you want a comparison.

You’re welcome! It was a good exercise...it allowed me to get everything in one place and to correct some issues that had cropped up.

The Adele Rogers started life as a Harvest House Foods Aphea's Harvest class agro ship until it was leased, massively modified, and eventually purchased by Rogers & Rogers, a leading Earth Union pharmaceutical firm. The middle six small domes were removed on both the dorsal and ventral spines and replaced with five supports; two replacing the forward and rearward most domes, and one larger central support that required additional rebuilding and strengthening of the hull. These new structures supported a massive dome above and below the ship, as well as associated living spaces and research centers. Even at full operational capacity, however, only a small fraction of the available habitation spaces were ever utilized, something that became a major factor when Ravine had to be evacuated.
