please note some things may or may not look right, please point it out and I or kurt or canis will fix ASAP, time permitting.

FIREFOX (by AresXVIII)

I used the photobucket thumbnail structure as base

when you open your folder(s) on deviatart you have thumbnails, right click on them and hit "show image"- then you get to a thumbnail size version of your image -> the direct linkt to this is the first thing you need
http://th01.deviantart.net/fs70/150/f/2012/144/6/f/colonial_forces_reporting_name_thresher_by_aresxviii-d50yo49.png

-> second thing you need is simply a link to the images site on DA
http://aresxviii.deviantart.com/#/d50yo49

now, with replacing the {> with []

you type

{URL= direct linkt to the page of the image >{img>direct link to the thumbnail{/img>{/URL>

example:
[ URL=http://aresxviii.deviantart.com/#/d50yo49][ img]http://th01.deviantart.net/fs70/150/f/2012/144/6/f/colonial_forces_reporting_name_thresher_by_aresxviii-d50yo49.png[ /img][ /URL]

MS Internet Explorer (by Munners)

For those who use ms internet explorer

go into the appropriate Deviantart folder
right-click on name of picture - go to properties and copy and paste address

EXAMPLE
http://munners.deviantart.com/art/2-sea ... 48367&qo=0

right-click on thumbnail - go to properties and copy and paste address

EXAMPLE
http://th08.deviantart.net/fs71/150/f/2 ... 49l9ld.png

then put it all together with [url=in front of the first address, and at the end of the first bit put ]

then add [img]

then add the second address and at the end add [/img]

then finish it off with [/url]

You will end up with a clickable thumbnail like this

A gigantic thanks to AresXVIII for this :thumbsup :thumbsup

WARNING - YOUR BRAIN MAY BE SLOSHING AROUND IN YOUR SHOES BY THE TIME YOU FINISH

Also a gigantic thanks to Munners for the MS IE version :thumbsup :thumbsup

CHROME (by Raz)

Chrome Test:

The method for Chrome is the same as described for Firefox, just some slight wording differences.

Step One: Right click on the desired image thumbnail and select Open Image in New Tab or Open Image in New Window depending on whichever you prefer.

Step Two: Keep the new thumbnail image open for later.

Step Three: Go to the direct image and use the download feature, this will open the image in a new window.

Step Four: Once the new window opens, and completely loads. Right click and select Copy Image URL.

Step Five: Use the same method as described for Firefox when writing out the link code and then paste the direct image link where advised, then copy&paste the thumbnail image to where it belongs.

Step Six: You're Done! Post as needed.

I'm sorry I didn't post this last night, like I said I would, but I got in really late and had to crash.

Note* I used XRaiderV1's Battlestar Fearless as an example as it was handy when I checked DA.

Also a gigantic thanks to Raz for the Chrome version :thumbsup :thumbsup

Nice to see this back.

Guess you got the go ahead then, after all! As for visual discrepancies, try enlarging the texts in red for both Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome and the others as well. I doubt most of us has 20/2 vision if you know what I mean.

To simplify the instructions slightly:
Code:
Use:
[url={1}][img]{2}[/img][url]

Where:
{1} = The full image's URL
{2} = The thumbnail's URL
In the case of DeviantArt {1} can be gotten by right clicking on the preview image in the Gallery view and selecting "open in new tab/window" or equivalent while {2} can be gained by navigating to the full size image (easiest way is to use the download option) and in both cases copying the URL.

Should we revise the original post to reflect this?

if the image displays shadowed and cut off portions, getting the code can be a bit of a pain for the thumbnail.

kurt? I'm clearly doing this wrong... both link sets are identical yet only the second one (artemis) is displaying a proper small thumbnail..

I'll take a look at the code when I get home.

Seems to work fine for me.

Kurt, how hard would it be to add image scaling BBCode to the board? It tends to be done with [img {width}x{hight}]{image url}[/img] right?

If that were added it should be fairly easy to add a [thumb] option that would create a thumbnail of a standard width (say 150px) given just the image URL, right?

04 by going to your gallery and searching for the ship then right-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "open in new tab".

08 by going straight to the image then opening it full size in a new tab.

its not giving me the fc04 link, which is where I'm guessing the proper thumbnail code I want is located.

give it to me command by command with a screenshot, I do believe its either browser related, I'm clicking on the wrong thing, or the bloody code doesnt exist.. and I'm extremely aggravated by this.
