Interesting that the Earth Union noticed something was going on with their Drones and took steps , abet too late to fix the problem. |

Endless Love, which was first mentioned Vignette 9, was the fail safe. When the drones were first discussed/developed/funded, there was a very real fear that someone might hack them or otherwise take over their control, and so Endless Love was developed. It was one of those projects that was so deep black and off the books that no one even suspected it might exist. Nothing was connected to a network; data was exchanged using the "sneaker net" of physically moving data to storage and then moving the storage to the other computer that needed it. When the drones' code was overwritten, a side effect was that the very ways that Endless Love would access the core controls was now walled off...because the overwrite walled off the core code. The drones didn't even know this happened (until Victor discovered it later). What Richardson and Raynes finally did was compare notes after Intelligence wasn't able to use the normal shutdown codes. |

Until recently, I've never watched "The Expanse". At first, I didn't feel like watching it on SyFy because I despise commercials. Later, I just couldn't get motivated. However, I've been watching some Spacedock videos on the show and more importantly, the space battles in the show, and realized that much of how I write Lady H's battle scenes are very similar to those shown in "The Expanse". Cool. |
