No...it’s not ending, I just had a question that I’d like to kick out to the group. I have my ideas on the answers, but I am interested in other thoughts as in reality more than one person would be making the decisions and recommendations.

For each broad class (light/medium/heavy gunstar, battlestar, etc), given the ships of all three nationalities (Colonial, Communion, Earth Union), which ones should be considered for standardized production? For example, in the heavy gunstar category, the Earth Union’s A-class would be one option.

Thoughts and more importantly, the reasons for them?

Thanks!

Let me think on it and I'll get back to you. This is a very interesting suggestion, I really would like to hear Ava's choices.

I'm not sure how hard it would be, but would you be able to list out each classification you are looking for and the likely contenders?

Since you have such a broad amount of entities and you might classify some ships differently than others.

Sure...I'll post the broad classifications this weekend.

As requested, here are the broad classifications:

Battlestar, Gunstar, Escort, Assaultstar, Replenishmentstar, fighter, light transport, fast patrol ship, etc.

Where possible, three levels would be ideal: light, medium, and heavy.

For example, for a medium battlestar it might be the Dido/4, heavy gunstar A-class, heavy battlestar Nike, heavy assaultstar Izanami, light transport Roc, etc.

edit to add:

I am adding a subcategory to "gunstar", that is "escort". An escort would have a majority of less than 1m guns, so by that definition, the Valkyrie (Freya class in Lady H) would probably be reclassified as an escort, especially given its size and small airwing.

Can we assume that the same classification is used for all the nationalities, even cylons and such? I think so, just to be sure.

That would be a fair assumption, yes.
